Furegon Genesis Part 6
Conquest Of Furegon. Pt2

The natives the Skupples and Canids had set off to meet were Mice, they had a large town almost on a city’s size. The homes were built under the ground, dugout burrows and dens. The Skupples knew exactly where they were going, they all had headsets and collar computers. They were all linked in communication with the humans and ships, as well as getting data from the drones in high altitude. They were fully equipped for gathering data and defense. The tankers with them had blinders and were lightly armed.
In the early morning the Mice were starting their days, getting fires going and meals warming. The smoke rising up through the mounds where the smoke hole was, sounds of scuffling and squeaks from within could easily be heard as the Skupples approached. As the team approached they barked letting their approach be known. Skupples and Canids were designed for stealth as their footpads kept most noise from being heard by humans. Constructs and Anthros who have enhanced senses aren’t so easy to sneak up on.
Within moments several mice popped out of their dens ears and noses sensing the direction of the incoming Skupples. The Skupples stopped short of the mouse’s town, waiting in a grassy clearing. The mice really had no idea what to make of them, they were scared but very curious.
Mice are naturally curious creatures, and the new creatures were not very threatening but still they grabbed their bows and spears. The Canids, the tankers were sitting back having a break and while sitting and sharing a drink they were very non threatening.
The mice approached and the Skupples remained sitting and watching, they both had no clue as how to communicate. The probes high above had been watching the mice for quite some time before the Skupples arrived. They had gathered data on all the races, these people communicated with sounds and scent as well as some visual display. Data on the mice had already been studied back at base camp. The lead Skupple took the greeting posture seen in surveillance videos, the mouse was startled to see a greeting.
After several moments of intense sniffing and a few squeaks, the mice relaxed, they had known about the giant flames in the sky. The mice had sent scouts to see what all the noise and shaking was. The humans had seen mouse anthros scouting about, their sensors were so advanced they could pick up the genome type of approaching life-forms. As the plan was to be as non threatening as possible the humans just logged the approach of curious natives. Unless a hostile action was taken no fleet member was to engage in any action, just ignore them.
Everything that was happening was being recorded, every Skupple and Canid had a shoulder cam as well as a dozen or more satellites and probes all focused on this one meeting. After a few uneasy moments the mice relaxed. Skupples were designed to be cute and almost puppy like in their looks which makes them very non threatening. Relaxed and able to start the attempts at communications they Skupples began.
It didn’t take long, the mice were studied before making contact, the Skupples had a basic idea of how to proceed. Smelling and raising of tail they sniffed and got a direct smell of each others scent. This was a very animalistic greeting seen in lower animals such as unaltered cats or dogs.
It took a few weeks, but the mice were entranced by the Skupples and the gifts they had been given. Fire, metal tools, salt, spices and more, all these were gifts and the mice took it as being honored by the new friendly tribe. The Canids who came with them they found to be delightful as they were big old softies and flopped on their sides wagging as to be cute. The mice took this as a wonderful invite to explore them. Sniffing and touching, eventually climbing on top of them like some great beast.
The Canids loved the attention and were quite gentle, this disarmed the cautious views the mice had that many of the town came out to see them. It was like a carnival, mice and their cubs joining in with the visitors in dances, feasts and the like. The Skupples were supplied with most anything they needed, it was air dropped outside of view in the clearings.
Some mice saw this and were in awe, gifts from the sky and metal birds were the first remarks. The humans had predicted this, and had the Skupples show them a book with pictures and brief descriptions. Mice had no written language so the words were meaningless. The Skupples and Canids Pantomimed it out telling the stories and facts. The mice were very intelligent, and grasped it quickly that these new visitors were not gods or anything mythical.
They were just people who could travel the stars or the worlds, their scents attested to them being alien. The plastic, and machine smells of the gear they wore gave them a mixed odor of animal and human tech. Animals can usually smell the technology humans make, from the materials to the function, as some give off a ozone odor as electricity is used. Several mice after their brief introduction to humans and their constructs came to the colony ship. The human’s camp and ship were awe inspiring and frightening.
It took reassuring from the Skupples, the mice were getting fearful once they saw the multitude of constructs working busily around the area. They stopped and watched the group of mice and some waved. The mice didn’t know waving was a sign of greeting but got the idea since the body posture seemed relaxed and welcoming. The stay was brief as the mice were feeling overloaded with the sights and now humans too. They returned back with a couple of the more liked Skupples and they visited the mice in kind.
Weeks and months passed, the Human seed cities were being constructed as scheduled. Some minor delays but in general all was well. The outer hulls of the four Colony ships were used as the alloys and materials for the construction. The ships supply power to the buildings starting to grow around them. The Colony ships power cores were designed to power a ship through space, power weapons and sensors, recharge power droids and armor. The powering lighting and basic needs was NIL to the cores output.
The mice were becoming entranced with all the wonders the humans brought, other tribes of anthros were showing up curious. Several bands of feline like anthros, as well as Canines showed up and were made welcome. The anthros were shocked the first time a human showed them power armor, they ran back frightened. Only after several Skupples climbed up and showed off it’s really not a threat. The human inside had the cockpit open and showed it was not a beast or monster.
This slowed the friendships for a while as they got used to the presence of the giant things, they had no clue they were armed and capable of causing massive destruction. Humans had set up probes with holo projection capabilities who were showing basic info about the humans and constructs. Nothing of any strategic value but more a primer, some of the more outgoing mice and anthros began to learn the language. They thought it was a novel and neat idea speaking with vocalizations.
In villages children would be running around squeaking “Food food Food!” as they learned more it became quite easy for humans to communicate instead of a Skupple or Canid working as a translator. The tribes had become quite at ease and were becoming dependent on the gifts humans had granted them. Lighters a god’s gift compared to a fire spindle or flint, metal tools which were indestructible when compared to a stone axe or flint knife. These and dozens of utensils for life were spoiling them.
Electricity and other forms of power were not shared however, just basics a tribe could use with ease and not have to be educated on the item’s use. This dependence soon became a link in which the humans made a trade. Mice were the primary members of this trade, mice would help with basic labors and tasks and in trade were gifted with better lives. Humans were keen in getting the local natives to be accepting of the idea, keeping all the more advanced tech inside the ship as it might scare them unduly.
Months became years and the anthros who were curious enough o venture outward were welcomed. being of no threat, just full of oddities and amazing things. Magic was unheard of as everything had a reason was most tribes thinking. Elves who came with the humans had been keeping themselves inside the colony ships but came out slowly. Anthros were a little surprised by them as they had a scent that was alien to the humans.
Elves also refrained from using any magic while in the seedling colony. Being almost ageless elves had patience that was unmatched. Time means nothing when you are immortal save for acts of nature or violence. Schools were also constructed, allowing the anthros and their children to learn more and faster. The world was changing and changing fast, the tribes that were greeting visitors and receiving gifts were getting a big leg up on the more reluctant tribes.
This drove others to come forward, although scared and wary the happy faces of Skupples, Canids and Humans as well as mice made it too inviting to stay back for long. The human plan was going well, the A.I.s had predicted the behaviors almost flawlessly. The plan was to greet the natives and begin the indoctrination of technology and new ideas. Mice were very interested and obliging in response to the trade.
With the help of the local mouse populations and others the cities started to grow and the natives started to leap in ideas and technology. Thus began the climb of the tribes of Furegon, with human’s aid and guidance the planet was changing fast.
