Crash Bandicoot and Fievel pose with a random tourist in this photo I snapped the other day at Universal Studios Hollywood.
Crash seems to have the notably distinction of being the only video game character that never appeared in a TV series or movie but who appears in fursuit form at a theme park. And Fievel has the notably distinction of being a movie character that just about only serious animation fans will know and recognize at this point. I mean it's been like what, 17 years since "Fievel Goes West" was released? And the movie didn't even do all that well. But Universal doesn't exactly have much in the way of popular animated characters, so I guess they have to use what they've got. Though Crash is certainly popular, especially since the original video game was pretty much a must-have title for the original Playstation. I was always surprised that no one ever attempted a spin-off TV series with Crash back in the day. Even if it wasn't very good, it probably would have propelled toy and game sales enough to be profitable.

I dunno about Hollywood, but I know in Orlando, there's a little section of the park for little kids that is like.. all Fievel stuff. DB I've never understood why they have a Crash though.

Right, I've seen the American Tail area at Universal Orlando. It seems pretty dated at this point, doesn't it.
Universal is one of the companies involved with the Crash Bandicoot video games (maybe with publishing or distribution, not sure, but I know they're not the developer), so I guess they got the rights to use the character in the parks from that.

Universal was supose to do a show based on Crash, but do to some problems and at the time, Video game based movies and shows were bombing bad (before Lora Croft was released) Universal never develped any projects.
Fievel has had 3 DTV dvd movies and then the TV cartoon that came out in 1992 and to VHS in 97, but he still a popular character even though its been almost 20 yrs since Fievel goest west was released.
