I tend to think that Ratchet saving the universe over and over again while going shirtless in each game is Furry manservice. There's no reason for going into battle without practical armor unless the goal is to titillate the viewer.

When you think about it, he's like the male version of Krystal.

Whether or not, the "manservice" be intentional or un' so, (on Insomniac's part),
there IS no doubt nor denying, that it goes-by appreciate nonetheless, as one can *clearly* see in-else of, not-quite-as-SFW works aplenty.

... It seems that Ratchet draws all the gushin' gals and gamer guys too; be them "bedroom-buddies" fuzzies and fur, reptilian or robotic, and whatnot whatever-else~ ;9

So what it boils down to is that Ratchet is apparently the most attractive guy in the universe.
