There have been very few games that have made me feel like a total scumbag for defeating an adversary, Bioshock is one of those games. The rush of defeating a Big Daddy was immediately crushed and negated as the grieving wail and cries of a Little Sister followed lamenting the dead of her guardian. It was one of those rare moments were a violent action in a game is something that near us to our goal but also a source for regret.
Fortunately you soon realize that the Little Sisters are unwilling tools, made prisoners and given a jailer in the form of the Big Daddies to ensure they continue being ADAM collectors. Saving them all and restoring their humanity was one of the most rewarding endings I've had in a game as well.
This tribute piece goes out to everyone who was a former member of Irrational Games and worked on this wonderful game.
