Description: There has been only one scientifically recorded encounter with a Kyogre. Most, if not all, reliable information about this pokémon come from that single event. Besides that, all we have are stories and myths of primitive cost dwelling cultures. The Kyogre was encountered by a remote controlled submarine, which was searching for and studying ocean life at about a kilometre below sea level. That it would encounter something like Kyogre was beyond the scientists’ wildest imagination. The entire film of the encounter is just over three minutes in length, before the Kyogre swam into the deep, outside the reach of the submarine. It’s length (and especially weight) are estimates and we have no clue if this was an average, large or small Kyogre. It’s skin showes a blue-white pattern, interlined with glowing red symbols. It might be that this, like in other deep sea creatures, is used to attract prey, though with the limited information we have of this creature, it could practically be used for anything from fighting to hunting to identification to attracting a mate. It has two triangular dorsal fins and a split tail which, like it’s other fins and gills, is frilled. There has been a lot of speculation on how Kyogre uses this seemingly weak tail to move around. This Kyogre appeared to notice the submarine, but showed no interest in it. It swam slowly and only one sound was recorded, when it was almost out of reach: a deep sound reminiscent of that of male Wailord. Since then, many attempts have been made to locate another Kyogre, but all have failed. It was concluded that Kyogre are either extremely rare, or that they live much deeper and this single specimen came unnaturally close to the surface. After the discovery, many myths and legends of native people of small islands and coastal settlements, about a powerful watergod, were thought to be connected to Kyogre, though this would mean that the pokémon occasionally reaches the surface of the ocean. There are striking similarities between the stories of cultures that have never met. In almost all versions, Kyogre (whose name, by the way, is that of the water god of de Hundugi people) can control water and in some cases would cause either floods or droughts if the people displeased him. Also in most tales, there is talk of a battle between Kyogre and a fire god, which will (some legends say) result in the destruction of the world if it rages on again.
