yea the Medieval era and before that ladies of any sort rich or poor pretty much did not have any panties and even if they had primitive one they usually went with out it because the discomfort and time it took get it on or off. poor could not afford it and the rich went with out it because the time with clothing like say a lady need rest room and those primitive panties took time to take off this they went with out them so it less time to take.

Also your are correct about the nune and the no undgergament or clothing underneath pretty much all female were nude under a dress or what ever clothing they were wearing it was not till late 1700 that underwear and undergarment become a thing for the rich and still in western time a lot female still went pantiesless because that had be tailored and that cost money.
