Still for a Moment [Spearfrost]
It was just a moment, a brief pause. Her hands were tired, her eyes nearly burning. Nearly three days without sleep was almost too much, even for her, but she couldn't stop. Her hands were slaves to the canvas, and nothing would let them go. Finally though, she found inside just enough inner will to pull away and lean against the wall, looking out the window. The field where she lived was quiet, and the wood line nearby even more so, the only bits of life the small sparks of fireflies as the sun slowly made its way behind the horizon.
Those weren't the flecks she was always searching for, though, and the lack of sleep made its way into her weary bones. It may be time to rest, now that she finally could pull herself away. Opportunities such as this were few and far between as of late. Then again, she could always go back and let the paint claim her again. To be lost in that symphony of shape and color...it wasn't such a bad thing...
Finally, with a resigned sigh, Edith pulled herself from the wall and walked towards her mattress, which lay upon the floor. Even if her mind could not decide...her body had, and it was time to rest.
