Liam settled back easily, feeling the rhythmic pulse of Mike's breathing as the big pit bull's chest rose and fell slowly. Liam leaned against Mike - against Dad, he corrected himself - and just relaxed. It had been a long day, and the both of them were tired. Mike had fallen asleep almost immediately as soon as he sat back on the couch and propped his feet up on the ottoman.

Sleep didn't come quite as easily for Liam, but it never did. Being only eleven, he always had that little extra bit of youthful energy to burn off before he could be relaxed enough to fall asleep. But it didn't take much to get him to that point: the golden afternoon light streaming in through the window made the room just that wonderfully perfect balance between warm and cool, and a pleasant summer breeze lightly drifted through the open window, carrying the scent of the freshly-cut lawn.

Liam leaned against his adopted father, and a moment later he felt Mike's big, strong arm draped over his shoulder and holding him against the pit bull's chest. All things right with his world, Liam just closed his eyes and smiled.

Okay, so this was just a nice little commission for  TheHotrodHero of his two characters, Mike and Liam. He just wanted a sweet, tender sort of father-son scene of the two of them sleeping on the couch (side note: I just realized how many couches are in my FA gallery, and it's a mind-boggling number). And he liked how I wrote a little descriptive snippet for the last piece I did for him, so he asked me to do another.
