Smoke plumed as angry flames licked at the night sky. Cries of agonized men carried on the wind, followed shortly by the near silent kiss of steel, silencing them. One by one the cries of those unfortunate enough to wake to the attack were silenced, often punctuated with a choked gurgle until all that could be heard was the crackling of the fire and the short, sharp gasps of one particular argonian.
This particular argonian had earned the attention of the attacking bandit crew's chieftain; a large, towering hulk that represented his race well. Warhamer slung over his shoulder, covered in blood and gore, he slowly made his way over to his injured quarry, intent on repaying the reptile for the injuries that he had inflicted upon him.
Clutching his bloodied knee it was all the argonian could do but sit and watch as his foe drew near; his sword shatter by the mighty swings of the orc and tendons torn by the impact of that giant chunk of metal. His mind raced furiously as he searched for something, anything that he could do to survive.
"No, not like this. I've not survived the torture of the Dunmer to die at the hands of a savage!"
Woohoo! Finally got my lazy ass in gear and got this done! :D I commissioned this piece from Nomax roughly 2-3 weeks ago and promised a story/explanation for it that delves a little into Skal's past. How he became a mage, where he got his knee injury from, etc. So, a little background history now:
Skal was born to and raised in the heart of Argonia, or Black Marsh to one of the Sarpan tribes. This particular subspecies of saxhleel is described to be winged like a Dragon, though few have ever actually seen them, so it is unclear as to whether or not these are the ramblings of a half-crazed imperial trader or actually cemented in truth.
Speaking non-canically to the official lore, I made some assumptions and took some liberties with Skal's design since so little was given on the actual species. As Skal grew he went through the standard argonian traditions and such as well as training in the art of swordsmanship, not to mention dabbling with magic from time to time.
Long story short, in his early teens his tribe was attacked and those that weren't killed were taken as slaves, eventually seeing himself sold to a wealthy Dunmer family. Years down the road Skal escaped, killing his former master and disappearing into the wilderness. Soon enough he was picked up by a roving marauder group, who took pity on him in his injured state. He was with them for years, their methods a bit different from that of your standard marauder thugs.
One particular rival group felt as if this was a disgrace to the marauder image. A few scuffles were had between the two groups until eventually this scene here happened. Skal's group was attacked in their sleep. Most never heard the attack coming. Needless to say, Skal survived and honed his skills, changing from that of a swordsman to a mage because of his crippled movement with his injured knee.
But yea! There's some of the backstory behind my character Skal-Tel. Story character eventually brought to life with the help of soulscape. For those wondering I do not consider him my fursona, nor do I have a fursona, he's simply a story character whom I identify with when doing tabletop type rps and whatnot. And no, I will not rp with you. That's only for close friends. :P
Thank you again Nomax! Tis always a pleasure when working with you! ^.=.^
