Aiea

created by me for another class assignment
Had to make an album and logo for a neo-folk musician
The album was named "Aiea" and research concluded that one of it's meanings is a political term for "American Indian, Eskimo, Aleaut" so I've decided to throw in some native american art in. (or more acurately first nations, being Kwakwaka'wakw) I've always thought native american/first nations art deserves a revisit in pop culture and this is the perfect oppertunity for it.
The other major homage is the "RCA dog" you see in the old RCA advertisements that I came up through some major creative processing. The wolf ties it all together: with the logo being a sort of moon, and the wolf being both a spiritual animal of the first nations and a great canine replacement for the RCA dog.
The album's layout is supposed to match the new age sound of the song selection I went by, and at the same time it's my statement of going back to the covers you'd expect on the old vinyl LP's. In particular I've studed a lot of covers from the 80's and 70's. The color scheme is related to an Eagles album and the geometric text layout is inspired by a number of 80's new wave albums.
I'm really trying to go against the trends, be my own lowbrow animal, and turn to classic design for inspiration.
EDIT: changed logo in moon
