Well here's another attempt to get into the Halloween spirit with my very own rendition of Bela Lugosi! Yes, the famous Dracula.
I'm attempting more realism in my depictions of humans...at least trying to anyway. This is based on the young Lugosi from the 1920's. I used as reference what looks to be an early press release photo.
In case some of you don't know just 'who' Bela Lugosi is! For shame! Here's a little sample of the master at work.

NOBODY GIVES TWO FUCKS FOR BAAaaayyyyylaaaa... :)
LOL! That came out pretty good, you got his face REALLY well, my only gripe is that the shirt on his left shoulder appears.. "FLAT".. it doesn't show any depth.. But then, that ref photo looked the same (I think?!) I don't remember now!
Still though, excellent job on his face!

*hugs a gator* Thanks, studness. I did my best, though I think I can do better. Yeah, his eyes are creepy... I think it's more the effect of the lighting in regard to the reference photo I used though.
This is another in my slow, sad attempt to do humans in some half-way realistic style. As we've talked about previously: human faces are damn tough to do.
I'll be working on more humans soon. Halloween is still in the furture. Perhaps time for one more monster? ;)

Yeah, the shading bothers me too. My scanner simply won't do pencil works, not well anyway. I always have to play with the image in Twisted Brush to get it viewable. I'm not pleased with the look of it presented here. The original? I think you would approve.
I'm pleased you're a Bela fan! Coolness. Thanks for the nice words, gator snake.

Hey there, buddy snake. Thanks for the kind words. The scan does not do justice to the original, sadly. It's amazing really that Bela's life was defined, there after, by the role he created. He is the arch-type Dracula and much is based upon his portrayal of that old European fear of "things" that come back from the dead. ;)
I really appreciate your comment. Given what I've seen of your magnificent pencil work, it means a lot when you say something nice. :)
