I spent three wonderful days in and around Albuquerque, New Mexico last summer. This is part of a panorama that I shot from the lip of the Bandera Volcano crater.
The volcano erupted about 10,000 years ago. You can learn more about it here: http://www.icecaves.com/

Not bad, I don't know why but ever since I was a pup in the 1990s I always wanted to be a volcanologist, and do they stuff they do like going into the craters etc. Probably because I watched Dante's Peak and Volcano then which I think they came out the same year if I remember it right, also remember watching things about Mt. St. Helens in school then too. I don't know why, I always just wanted to have that cool ass truck and drive through the city while it's being destroyed and stuff. lol
When I was a cub in the early 1970s, I subscribed to a monthly thing from the Science Service. One month, there was a book on volcanoes and was I instantly fascinated. I read everything I could find on the subject. After all those decades, this was the first volcano I've ever come close to.
Yeah, I would like to hopefully see Mt. St Helens in the near future, but mostly to see the historical aspects of what it left behind like the Miner's Car and the sunk A-Frame house. I don't know why but I always wished I could have been a photographer after the eruption to see what the volcano left behind. Amazing to see photos of just after it erupted, like the melted dashboard of vehicles and how they got tossed like toys and all the downed trees etc.
