A little something I managed to grab from
stabbings.
Do go see him, his art is lovely. Not to mention that he offers things like these bust commissions from time to time for very affordable prices. I should know, for I am a student with severe money issues yet I still snatched two slots, hehee!
At first I was thinking about getting a bust of Taegan or Vergal or both but then decided to get some more art of Boghos and Dragan. Because they need some love as well and I have been writing about them lately and I am simply amazed at how much I like these two characters of mine.
A quick recap to those of you who are unaware what or who Boghos here is: He used to be an elven lord hundreds of years ago who had a bit of a taste for cannibalism. Serving "exotic" meats that turned out to be majority of his service personnel to a visiting High Elf lord not only got him boiled alive in one of his own kitchen pots, but it also got him cursed so that he would not find peace in the afterlife but would forever more be doomed to feel eternal unsatiable hunger. Boghos did manage to find a way to push the feeling of hunger aside in the underworld though, a skill he uses to this very day under the service of Vergal.
Speaking of which, hundreds of years later, Vergal Garghan, a warlord character of mine who served Taegan back in the day as well, hosted a little summoning ritual in order to gain some extra leverage against those who did not want him back on the throne after he returned from another world to his island nation. Result was that he managed to summon both Boghos and Dragan at the same time and then offer them a deal that they simply could not refuse. Now they both serve under him, carrying out orders and tasks that others are incapable or unwilling to accomplish.
The heads you see beneath his "skin" are just few of the souls that Boghos has devoured either during his time in the underworld or during his service to Vergal. This skill I mentioned above, this devouring of souls (preferably while the original victim is still alive for the soul is rich and powerful at that state), is what keeps Boghos' curse in check and prevents him from going rampant with hunger and turning against Vergal or anyone else really. He did try to actually devour Dragan at one point as well, but a swift torrent of fire which might have burned Boghos out of reality was enough to convince him to never try and do that again.
Boghos also prefers to eat the physical bodies of his prey as well, which in turn is very convenient for Vergal if he wishes to get rid of someone quickly. The bodies usually give the souls an added touch of taste you see, kind of like salt or pepper on a fine steak.
Of course, for Vergal, this provides a dilemma at times as well. There are only so many vagrants and people without relatives he can grab from the streets and give to Boghos in a month before unwanted questions start being asked. Then again, he might just soon have an ample supply of prisoners from his upcoming war effort.
