I had this idea year or so ago about a comic with the characters all being monsters, or Oni, as I am calling them. And then my wife started doing an art project with her students, she teaches art to kids, it was a box monster project that I feel in love with what the kids came up with. So I started drawing character versions of them.
Spindle here is one of the first characters I came up with, this is before the box monsters. He is a spider Oni and the leader of sorts to the trio that the comic idea was about. I wanted all the oni to have a Jim Henson vibe with the fuzziness and bright colors. I have to say drawing these guys are a lot of fun, and I will be post more of the monsters soon.
