This one was taken last night just after a good long suckle...a bit blurrier than the last one for some reason. Kitten is sucking its foot/leg....can't really tell. (I snuggle her for a bit after she's done eating and 9/10 she'll nap and purrrrrr so loud).
Anyway, the leg sucking/licking has me curious... about twice she rubbed the back of her head/ear with the newly wet paw like she was trying to groom... I dunno if that's normal or what... any ideas?
She's gotten a bit bigger and her ears are starting to get a bit pointy... at this rate her ears'll be opened before her eyes.
She also seems to dislike Jonathan Coulton. : (
Or maybe I was just singing badly.
Her fur is so soft and fluffy....I wonder if it'll be sleeker when she gets older...?(or i just need to brush her fur to get the oils going hmmm.. so fluffy... like a powder puff... covered in poop.)
Diarrhea has also pretty much clear up.. whew. *waits for the next issue*

Yeah, kitten definitely has russian (or american) blue in it's ancestory... the fur colour and type seem right. Tail is short though... which i find very odd because I haven't seen any short tailed cats in america (they're all over malaysia though). Ah well genetic mutations can happen. As long as it doens't start moving kibble with it's mind....
animal show instincts very early on. when our cat had her kittens i was able to observe many things you can only observe when you have newborns. they start to groom, or mimic grooming from very early. once their eyes open (if momma cat was around) you would see the mimicry very early on.
I think shes developing her 'grooming' skills. Early on human toddlers do odd things like put their foot in their mouth or their whole hand. Sounds normal to me that your kitten is devloping its cleaning instincts.
So far observing and watching her grow means you really take good care of it. You're raising one cute lil' bugger there. ^.^

"Naturally, this will vary from cat to cat, but the Russian Blue is an intelligent cat which is renowned for its gentleness. It will often talk to its owner in a quiet voice, although a queen in season can make as much noise as any other cat. The Russian Blue is affectionate but not demanding. Many love to be picked up and cuddled but some are not so keen. Nevertheless, they are still likely to be loving and devoted companions to their owners. This has made the breed particularly popular with elderly people. However, it is also very good with children and as a general rule will tolerate the clumsy handling of a child. The cat will wriggle, rather than claw, its way out of a tight grip. It is rare for a Russian Blue to bite or scratch."
And to think your MiL wants to dump this kitteh outside. /facepalm

I've been meaning to get a digital camera for ages.... it's low on the priority list though. The hubby's cellphone is okay but then again it's not 'teh greatest'. It's sufficing though.
And I hope she turns out to be a snuggly kitty. Mind you, so's my step-mom's (who was handraised) she just has a grumpy streak when she's hungry or if my step-mom's been away too long. We call them tantrums. (but seriously she's so cute we forgive her. XD)
My husband is a fan of keeping his blood inside his body so I do hope kitty doesn't develop the same aggression most handraised kitten do (they're loving but don't necessarily know how to show restraint when 'playing' or being miffed).

I do agree with TigerBlack in that it looks like a Russian Blue.
One thing may I recommend, Please though do not do this by yourself, take him/her to a groomer and watch them a few times before you do this. There are ways to trim up the fur around that particular region, which'll help in the poo not clinging to the fur.
Beautiful kitten though!
when s/he feels better, more pictures please?

Oh, I'm not too worried about poop clinging to the fur once kitten is old enough it's jsut while she had diarrhea it just spread all over her backside... I've managed to clean most of it off now (her tail is like a fluffy widdle bunny tail!) but i'm having a bit or trouble with her legs... so when she's old enoguh, kitten is getting a bath! (for now I'm considering some pet wipes).
Actually the guy who brought her in couldn't take care of her because he had to work, the Pound and other similar organisations couldn't take her because she was too young and they can't always put in the time needed for kittens this young and the nurses and vet couldn't because they also have jobs and transporting the kitten to and from work with them everyday would've been bad for it's health.
Everyone else there had puppies/dogs and/or jobs....So I'm kindda glad our dog got ticks so we happened to be there that day. Even if it is costing me sleep. @.@;;;
