Another painting from May of 2007, my first mushroom trip. By this time it was starting to lighten up a bit, I think. My trip sitter had navigated me to a local restaurant and while we waited on food, I sketched one of the chairs in the restaurant.
I knew it was a chair. Every time I tried psychedelics, things never stopped being the things they were, it was just that I could also let them be other things and see them as they might be or draw inspiration from them. I also do that sober of course but there's usually a certain resistance to letting that be. Too busy. Too many things to do. Too many 'important' and 'meaningful' things to do.
I think this is the last piece from that trip that I'd left unpainted.
