Donkey Games
By born2beagator
Asinus slowly got to his feet. His human feet. He groaned as he saw the donkeys surrounding him, grazing peacefully. It must be time to spread his blessing again. For this work of art, he was going to do something different. He was going to be a middle school kid. He’d always wondered what their minds were like since that was the age of most of the kids who came to pleasure island. But first, he needed some parents to adopt him. He wanted to live on a farm for a bit.
Asinus began to shrink, and his sharp mind began to grow more immature. He was ready to play some games! Wow, he couldn’t blame the kids that came to Pleasure Island. This feeling of freedom, of invincibility, was wonderful. He ripped his clothes a bit, and threw some dirt on his face...then he found a nice looking family with a “SOLD” sign in their yard. Screwing up his face into his best “I’m helpless” look he knocked on the door.
A young man and woman opened it. “Oh! What is wrong young man!?”
Asinus exerted a bit of power, not enough to change them, but just to make them more pliable to his suggestions. He began to sob. “My name is Aaron. My mom and dad just died in a car wreck…”
The man looked to the woman. “We should take him in.” He whispered. The woman nodded.
“Then you may call us mom and dad...son.”
Aaron threw himself into their arms.
“Although we are currently moving out to a farm on the edge of town…” Dad said.
Aaron nearly jumped up and down. “Thats amazing! I’ve always wanted to live on a farm!”
A few hours later, Aaron was sitting in the back of his new parent’s van pulling into a small farmhouse’s driveway. He got out and breathed in the fresh farm air. Ahhh...this was where he belonged…where everyone belonged.
“Aaron, how about you go out and meet some of the kids from the other farms, there are two nearby, and they both have kids your age!” His mom said.
Aaron ran off, happy to meet his future herd mates. He wasn’t going to mass transform this area. He had a hankering for the good ole days...of watching kids transform one by one through misbehavior and animal actions. It was time to have some fun! Ah! There they were now. Two kids his age playing catch in a field. One was a pretty blonde haired girl, while the other was a chiseled black haired boy.
“Hey guys! I’m new! Can I play?” Aaron called.
The two kids looked up. “A new kid!” The girl cried.
“Come on over bud! What is your name?” The boy called, motioning him over.
“Aaron I just moved into the small farm across the way.” He said as he caught the ball thrown at him.
“My name is Robert, and this is my friend Kai.” Robert gestured to the girl.
“What do you do Aaron?” Kai asked.
“Oh nothing much, I’m pretty lazy.” Aaron replied. And soon you will be too. He thought.
“Don’t you go to school?” Robert asked curiously.
“Eww no!” Aaron recoiled. “School is so boring!”
“What? Do you really want to stay on a farm your whole life?” Kai asked. “Keeping our grades up is the only way we’ll ever get out of here.”
“As a matter of fact, I do want to stay on a farm my whole life.” Aaron said wistfully.
“Really??? Why? You want to stay here around the stinky animals forever?” Robert said with a slight snort.
“Actually, I quite like the smell.” Aaron shrugged.
Robert and Kai blinked, then burst out laughing. “Should have known Aar. You are a joker.” Robert said.
“Who is Aar?” Aaron asked. The middle school mind was curious indeed.
“Its our nickname for you.” Robert said. “We’ll be seeing each other much more after all.”
“Ah! Yeah. I’m glad I made friend so easily.” Aaron said brightly. Suddenly, a dim playfulness overtook him. The donkey inside needed a little release. “Lets play!”
They spent the next hour throwing a ball around. This bored Aaron. He was a donkey at heart after all. While he was powerful from all the transformed people, at times it was hard not to let a bray slip out. In fact, he could feel the pressure building right now. He bit it down. These herd mates weren’t ready for that just yet. But he did want to play less intellectual games.
“Hey I got an idea for a new game! Let’s just run around in circles!” Aaron said, then he began running aimlessly around in a circle. He remembered how happy some of the changing kids were when they did this. Maybe his new friends would enjoy it too?
“Aaron? What are you doing?” Robert asked in confusion.
“Having fun!” Aaron called as he continued to run aimlessly.
“What is the point to this game?” Kai called.
“Point? No point. Why does there have to be a point!” Aaron called. Acting like his true form made it harder to maintain his human self, and he could feel the brays wanting to escape, but he held them in. “Come on join in!”
Robert and Kai watched Aaron run around in a circle aimlessly. He looked like he was having the time of his life. Suddenly Robert wasn’t there.
“Robert?” Kai asked. “Where-” But she had her question answered. He was chasing Aaron around in a circle. They were laughing hysterically. Strangely, every now and then what sounded like the bray of a donkey broke through the laughing.
“Come on Kai! Run with us!” Robert said with a laugh as he pulled her hand towards him.
“Oh alright.” Kai began running….and running….and running. Before long she had joined the two boys in their hysterical laughter. By the end of the running fit she was feeling sore and tired. Not only that, but for some reason her ears ached. Robert joined her, also rubbing his ears.
Aaron smiled at the sight of the point appearing on their ears. They started out elf-like. But there the human similarities ended as they started stretching. Small brown hairs began to push out of their ears as they pulled into eight inch, furry ears.He could feel his own joining theirs. This was happening quick. He let the two sit down while their ears finished growing. Maybe he could get a bit more drastic in his bestial games now that they had proper ears.
“I got an idea guys. For our next game, why don’t we just laze around in the grass for a bit. Let’s think about school.” Aaron said.
Robert sat up and looked at their long eared friend. “What about it.” He asked, his own ears twitching.
“Do you like it?” Aaron asked simply.
Kai and Robert looked at each other dubiously, somehow missing the long animal ears each sported.
“Well, we can’t stay on the farm our whole lives.” Kai said. Robert nodded.
Aaron laughed. “That wasn’t what I asked. Do you like it? Do you enjoy it?”
They looked at each other again, and replied at the same time with a firm “No.”
“Well...then quit!” Aaron said happily.
Robert and Kai gasped. “Our parents would never let us.” Kai said.
“Ask them tonight.” Aaron said pointedly. “Think about it. Even if you stayed on the farm forever, wouldn’t it be nice to just let go off all worry and act like jackasses? Let's play one more game before you go home, jackasses.”
Aaron led them to a fence. On the other side were many donkeys, in fact, Aaron was pretty sure they were from the last town he changed. “The name of this game is simple.” Aaron looked out to his herd mates and finally let it out. “Hee-hawwwww!” He felt his lips flap along with his bray. Yes! Another change already. These kids were his.
“What kind of game is that?” Robert asked curiously.
“Donkeys, while obviously not close to human intelligence, recognize the calls of their own. This game is to see if you can get one of them to bray back.” Aaron looked back to the donkeys. “Like this.” His lips peeled up. “Hawww-hee-haw!!!”
One of the animals immediately looked up and brayed back. “See? Simple.” Aaron said.
“That does sound like a fun game.” Kai said. “But how do we make that sound real enough to get them to respond.” The girl said, somehow missing or not caring about the gray donkey ears Aaron sported. Robert nodded and turned to Aaron as well.
“Hmmm...well you need to empty your mind of all thoughts. Don’t think of anything….Wait, scratch that. Think of being a donkey, braying in a field.”
Kai did as she asked. She thought of being a donkey in a field. “Hic-what was that?” She asked as a hiccup escaped. Robert now had the hiccups as well.
Aaron laughed. These two were completely oblivious. “Keep thinking! Imagine yourself a donkey braying to your herd mates, and you’ll get this game in no time.
Robert nodded as the hiccups continued. Suddenly they became more laboured. “Hic-hee...hic-heeeee.” Robert nudged Kai. “I think I got it!” He looked to one of the animals in the field. A dull haze overtook him. “Hee-hawwwwwwww!”
“Almost Robert.” Aaron said as he felt his face beginning to ache. “Still sounds a little fake. Kai, you want to try?”
Kai nodded. She felt a pressure in her chest and she started huffing. “HeehuhheehuhheehawheehawwwwHEEEEEHAWWWWWW!!!!!”
One of the animals looked up and brayed back. Kai gave a whoop of joy. Almost in the same moment, Robert got a return bray.
Aaron clapped them on the back, then nearly burst out laughing when they suddenly both burst into fits of braying. He stepped back and let the two young changing humans chat with the donkeys in the field. With each bray he could see their faces softening and pushing out. They both put their hands on the railing and began braying in earnest. These weren’t mock brays anymore. These were full throated animal brays. Aaron could feel his own face pulling forward and his tail escape from his pants.
“Okaaaawwwww guys. Let’s plaawwwwwy something else!” He said, noticing with joy that he could no longer talk without braying. Robert and Kai turned around, revealing the heads of donkeys on their shoulders. Brown fur on their necks disappeared into their shirts.
“Aaron...I feeeehawww strange….dumb…” Robert said.
But Kai had a stupid grin on her muzzle. “So do I Robert. But I feeeeehawwww good!”
Robert could feel his entire body tingling. He shrugged. She was right. “Whaaaat nawwww Aaron?”
“Let’s talk about school agia---”
Both Robert and Kai brayed loudly. “We aren’t going to school ever again we want to have fun.” They said in unison.
Aaron smiled. “That’s the spirit you jackasses!” He turned around revealing his tail. “Like what you see?”
Robert and Kai stared at it.
Aaron suppressed the immense urge to bray so he could give them their instructions. “Here is our next game. I want you two to grow them yourselves. Whoever is the most creative with getting it out of their pants wins. Just concentrate. Being around me will bring them out.”
Robert nodded then gasped as he felt something push into his pants. It was too much for him. With a might bray that threw him to all fours, his tail immediately burst out.
“Well someone is eager.” Aaron laughed as the boy’s hind legs quickly reconfigured themselves, locking him on all fours. “Kai? You are up. You should be able to win easily now.”
“Hold on, my feet are numb.” Kai sat down and worked at her sock. She stopped though when a surge went through her body. With a blank look on her face she watched as her feet flowed into a new shape. Shrugging, she pulled the socks off to let her hooves breathe.
That taken care of, she concentrated on winning. She felt the bump in her pants. Hmmm...Robert’s just burst out. I wonder if I can get it down my pant leg. She put her hardening hands on the ground and stuck her behind in the air. Suddenly she could feel her pants ripping from her swelling behind. No not yet! She shifted to the side and felt the wormy appendage start down her pant leg. She gave a bray of joy as she decided to stay on all fours.
Aaron clapped his hooves together as he saw the tail snake down her pant leg, tassel emerging from the bottoms. “Sorry Robert, I think Kai won, don’t you think?” Aaron felt his back snap as he fell onto all fours. “Robert?” But he was busy grazing. A small brown donkey was contently munching on the grass. “Hawwwhee enjoy herd mate, we’ll come back to you….Kai?” It appeared the fun was already over. While he had been talking to Robert, Kai’s clothes had given way and she too was now grazing peacefully. Aaron could feel his intelligence waning. One more thing. He willed on hoof into a clumsy, black hand. “Robert? Kai?”
The two donkeys looked up. “What is it Aaron? New game?” Robert asked in a deep, slow voice.
“What do you see?” Aaron pointed a stubby finger at the blackboard he had hastily set up.
“Thaawwwwwt’s our school.” Kai said immediately.
“Yeeeehaww, weeeehaw haveeeehaw to beeehaww getting back soon Aaron-”
But Aaron was erasing the board. On it he wrote something new.
Robert, feel your human thoughts leave you. Your human speech. You are now a circus donkey. You will find your ringmaster at the road. Good luck my herd mate!
Robert’s blue eyes slowly dulled to a deep brown. The donkey brayed and trotted off towards the road.
Kai. You were born a jenny, you have always been a jenny. You will stay here on this farm and live your life as a happy, dumb donkey. Now you have some grass to eat in your corral don’t you?
The jenny looked at him dully before returning to her grazing. Speaking of dull, Aaron felt his own mind empty. The name Aaron lost meaning as Asinus returned to his correct form. It was time to be an animal again for a little while, until the next donkey was ready to join his herd.
