As far as KH goes, Kia's origin or species is unidentified, however, because of the vast dark powers she possesses, she could be confused with a Heartless, though she can simply be best described as a demon.

As far as fighting style is concerned, hers is rather unique. Wielding a hefty zanbatou, Kia often attacks with thrust attacks, occasionally using slashes when close enough. As far as acrobatics goes, she's fairly good with it, although not as skilled as Sora when it comes to such. Using her shapeshifting ability, she can transform herself into a snaking torrent of liquid capable of pounding and ramming enemies into walls or the ground as well as grabbing a hold of them. She will also use this in conjunction with her weapon, skimming past her targets with her weapon extended outwards to strike her adversaries. However, she is not without magical properties. As mentioned before, she possesses the element of darkness, launching projectiles and conjuring up phantom duplicates of her weapon which can be commanded at will to either surround her or rocket towards the target. She also uses the element to transform herself into the form on the right. She replaces the zanbatou with her newly transformed left arm and new wing. Despite these powerful abilities, Kia's one weaknesses is the element of ice since it is capable of incapacitating her body.
