A commissioned portrait of the late Leo, a beautiful Australian Shepherd. I was provided an amazingly high quality, high resolution photo to reference so I was able to get right in there with the tiny detail work. As usual I forgot to use my work timer, but it would have taken me 15+ hours across several days.
For those interested in how I paint fur, I previously uploaded an animated gif to show my technique, and you can find it in my Scraps. I worked in 2 layers in Krita, a base layer where i blocked in colour, and a detail layer. I used a single rectangular brush (X2BB Big Marker from the Krita Modular Brushset V4 by GrindGod) and just varied the size depending on what I was doing - larger for blocking in, finer for hair detail.
