Beep Beep! Went the alarm on Jayzen's communicator. He cracked open an eye moving the crust out of the way and stared at the green numbers till they came in focus. “Time to get up,” he mumbled to himself as he began rubbing the sleep out of his eyes. It was nice being a lone on his ship for a change. Everyone was out doing missions or enjoying a vacation. He stared at the ceiling as he tried to plan the day out in his head. He rubbed his temples with his index fingers and thought hard, “Ugh.....what am I going to do? I have no idea of what to get my mom for her birthday.” he said. His mom was turning fifty and he wanted to do something special for her. He didn't want to just do jewelery like he always did. He wanted to amaze her.
He thought hard as he tried to recall some of the things that she liked or that she was talking about recently. After a minutes of thinking, the light bulb in his head clicked. He grinned wide and flicked his ears sideways. “I think I have the perfect gift for her,” he said and tossed the covers off of him and got up to get dressed.
Jay got dressed fast, putting his duster on as he made his way to his ship. He hopped up the ladder and ignited the engines as he plotted his course while the engines heated up.
It didn't take long for his ship to make it to his home planet of Zaria. He touched down on the pad near his bunker and quickly hopped out of his ship. He looked down at his watch and nodded with a smile, “Perfect..Plenty of time to pick up her present and take it to her,” he said and quickly made his way to the market district.
A few hours later he made his way to the bunker door carrying a large wrapped box. He fixed the collar on his green shirt and wiped the bangs of his silver hair repeating, “She's going to love this. I just know she will.”
When the large steel doors opened, he walked inside and made his way to the elevator. He pulled the lever and started the elevator as he folded his ears looking downwards as it descended.
In a few minutes, the elevator landed and he walked inside the house. With a slight blush on his face he peered around the front room and looked for his mom. He needed to have her open the gift soon and he quickly traversed the house.
He didn't have to far to find her. His mom sat on the couch in the living room, wearing a pink shirt and light blue jeans. His tail wagged happily behind him as his toes gently gripped the carpet. Behind him he held the box and made his way over to her as she didn't quite notice him there as she was reading a book.
His mom's ears twitched and she sniffed the air a little and lifted her head. She smiled and wagged her tail tip as she reached up to adjust her glasses. “Well hello there Jayzen. Was wondering when you would get here,” she said moving the bangs of her brown h air out of her face.
Jayzen blushed and folded his ears as he shyly looked to the side. “Heh, well yeah. I had to go pick something up for you. And....I may have overslept a little,” he said giving her that cute blushy smirk that he always did.
His mom laughed as she crossed her ankles. “Why does that not surprise me,” she said folding her arms. She then smiled as she tried to peer around him at the rather large box. “So....what did you get me?” she asked lifting a brow in curiosity.
Jayzen's ears perked up as he heard that and he brought the package in front of him. He giggled as he made his way over to her. “I have something special for you. Something that will keep you company when dad is away doing his mechanic job.” he said placing the box on the floor and lifting the lid up and very quickly grabbing the item out of it and picking it up.
His mom's eyes lit up as she saw the object, or better yet the animal. She smiled placing a hand near her mouth. “Oh my....you got me....a puppy?” she asked both excited and a bit curiously.
Jayzen nodded and smiled as he brought the puppy closer to her. “Mhm, I heard you talking about wanting to have one of these little feral dogs so I decided to get you one to keep you company.” he said with a big smile.
The puppy was a light tan color and had a slight droopy ears. His tail had a white tip to it and his belly fur was of the same color. He had a red bow tied around his neck and was already trying to paw at her with his cute little paws. “He was a very curious little guy. When I was at the shop trying to pick one, his sisters were fighting amongst each other and making a ton of noises. His other brother looked like he was full of mud and dirt. This little guy came directly for me and started to paw at my toes. He was cutest little thing and I thought his personality was perfect for you.”
His mom chuckled as she reached out to take the little feral pup from him. She held him out from her face a little and the little guy was already trying to lick her face. She sat him in her lap as she looked down at the box. “Um were there air holes in there?” she asked with a gasp as she noticed one.
Jayzen gasped but then quickly grinned. “Of course there was. I got a special box that had hidden air holes so that in case I gave you it, you would not be able to tell what was in it.” he said sitting next to her.
His mom scritched behind the pup's ear and caused him to lean against her as she managed to already find his sweet spot. “Hehe, awwww that is cute, does he have a name?” she asked trying to look at his collar.
Jayzen shook his head and flicked his ears. “No he does not. You have to give him one.”
His mom tilted her head and looked down at the pup and saw what looked like a little lightning bolt on his neck. She grinned as she petted his head. “Heh I'm going to call him, Lightning.” she said looking down at him.
The pup gave a little bark and panted as he nuzzled her hand to keep petting him.
Jayzen laughed and scritched under the pup's chin. “Heh sounds like he likes it. Or he really likes those pets.” he said with a teasing smirk and reached over to give his mom a big hug. “Happy Birthday mom.”
His mom returned the hug and nuzzled the side of his face. “Thank you son.”
