Had this idea in the back of my head to come up with new official designs for all the Legends of Aeluria characters that have been created so far. Some of the characters exist only on paper or in my mind, and are in desperate need of a physical form.
Name: Shammah Alisdair
Nicknames: Azrael
Affiliation: Felorian Alliance, City of Felidor, Seven Sons of Verganza
Relatives:
Adopted younger brother, Judah
Oath blood brothers.
The eldest son of Verganza's captain of the guard, Shammah had his whole life torn from him by the Orionite band. His birth family was butchered before his eyes and his father nearly cut in two by an enemy's sword all on the same day. All that remained of his family was Judah, a young half breed who his father had adopted while he was still a baby.
Both he and his brother were taken, intended to be turned into berserkers, the shock troops of the Orionites. Both boys suffered the reeling affects of drugs and beatings, Judah receiving the brunt of it all because of his dark coloring.
It was Shammah's determination above all the others that sparked their revolt and eventual against their cultist captors, and his lust for vengeance that formed the seven into an elite band of hunters. Before meeting Cyrus, he succeeded in slaying his father's killer, but his vengeance would not be sated. He wanted more. More blood, more Orionites dead, no prisoners, no mercy. Both his companions and the ones he hunted started calling him 'Azrael' after a spirit of vengeance feared by superstitious desert folk.
It took the rebuking and guidance of the old hunter Cyrus Gilchrist to redirect the vengeful lion from his path of destruction, and towards a more honorable path of justice.
What he was for vengeance he became double for justice. His nickname Azrael still stuck to him, reminding people around him who he was and what he could do if he lost all control.
Giving up his family name, Shammah took up the surname Alisdair from his brother, to better bond with him as he was the only family he had left.
The name Shammah is taken from a passage of scripture found in 2 Samuel 23:11-13. He was one of David's mighty men, who was among 3 who fought through the lines of Philistines to get for King David a drink of water from Bethlehem's well.
The nickname Azrael comes from Judeo-Christian mysticism, Sikhism and Islam. It is a name given to an Angel of Death or Punishment depending on the religion.
