A massive hunger's the only thing I hate about being a daemon... See, we burn up energy a lot faster than you mortals, it's because our supernatural forms have to maintain a shield against reality. This shield is virtually impenetrable, except to anti-daemon weapons and magic. They pass through it like a regular blade would through regular skin. The more powerful varieties of anti-daemon attacks do much more damage, affecting our bodies' ability to restore the shield for a varying amount of time. It is never more than a second, but it can be devastating. The anti-daemon stuff is the only thing we can't become immune to. I know some very powerful daemons who have been killed countless times. They can only be harmed by anti-daemon stuff.

And like I say, the shield takes a lot of energy, hence we need to eat very often. If we don't, well, imagine someone starving to death in a single day and then exploding... It's very messy...
