Is it possible for a saber-toothed kitty to be adorable? Cryonim isn't sure, but he's more than happy to try.
I've wasted most of tonight trying to do a body reference of this guy, who is a fursuit character of mine. Can't for the life of me get a reference done that looks at all right, but when I did a goofy, somewhat stylized sketch, it came out perfect! Argh!
I think I'll just say 'screw it' and commission the body ref, the sooner I do that, sooner I can get the suit started.

Anyone can be wacky and animated if they're told to be, but to really make the character ya kinda need to get the mindset, get inside their head. Cryonim looks like a cool cat, and with some practice and just feeling out the personality, you'll be on your way to having a character beyond the costume. Pretend to do a cool ambling walk, with some sway perhaps, tail swish. Imagine Fonzie, maybe? Watch cats move, watch them groom. Pretending to lick your paw and groom your head, might be a good "idle animation" to give you extra motion for standing around.
I find that developing a walk and posture that's different than my own help reinforce the character in my head.
just some random advice, hope it helps :)
