Destiny of eight (Book 2 Chapter 3)
This chapter isn't as long as my usual work, but there was only so much I could do for it ^^ Next one should be a little better. I've added a few Cameo appearances of some of my best friends including
Kiya Drakon
RollerandShizzle and of course my RL friend Leo whose Typlosion makes an appearance as well. Everyone I hope you enjoy :3
Destiny of eight
It felt like they were floating in zero gravity, swimming through a sea of greens, blues and reds. After what felt like hours of this free flight, Max, Fang and Flare landed belly first on a soft patch of grass.
"Urgh...well least we got through the portal in one piece...Still it took us forever to travel between worlds, I would have thought it'd be instantaneous." Max groaned out, pulling himself up to find that every blade of grass had a string of code running through it. "We're here though..."
Fang started shaking his head about. "It's another world, not like taking a walk across the block. Some believe that traveling through portals would be instantaneous while others believe it to be a journey all in itself. And...have you gotten taller?" He addressed Max, and started looking around their new surroundings.
"Afraid not...uhm...Fang..." Max turned on his pokegear and set it to camera mode, letting his brother get a good look of what he had become.
What awaited Fang wasn't that of his original appearance, but that of a Gaomon. Somehow...for some reason, he had been transformed into a digimon, the only difference was he retained his greyish white coat, along with his markings. "I'm...I'm a digimon! Why has this happened to me?!"
Flare rubbed over himself, noting that he was donning Agunimon's armor once again. "Hey I'm one too...Maybe this world has everybody who travels through the portal become a digimon."
"Uhm...Flare...I don't think it's just humans or anthros..." The voice came beside the armored digimon. Standing beside him was a short, orange furred digimon with a head band that had a small flame burning at it's core, as well as a flame protruding from the tip of it's tale, he had become a Coronamon. "I think it affects pokemon too..."
Flare's jaw dropped, looking at Charmeleon, except he wasn't a Charmeleon now, he was...a DIGIMON, what species he was, wasn't entirely clear to the trainer. "Y-I...I understood you! And...Wait Charmeleon! Your eye!"
The newly formed Coronamon reached at his cybernetic eye, then blinked when he felt tissue. "I...I'm whole? I can see perfectly through this eye..."
"This is just TOO weird!" Fang shouted, flailing his paws, or his boxing gloves rather. "Then Jesse will come as Loweemon...but...if Charmeleon became THIS...and I became...this boxing dog. What will RainbowDragon become when they make their way out here?"
This got Max thinking, he didn't know a whole lot of digimon species...heck the forms that Fang and Charmeleon took were completely foreign to him. He didn't know WHAT RD would turn into but he couldn't help but smile. "Whatever he becomes...I'm sure he'll still be a great guy. As long as we're here it seems that any pokemon we release will become digimon...wait! Bulbasaur!" He reached for his head.
"Don't...even..." Bulbasaur grumbled, except he wasn't a Bulbasaur, when Max scooped him up, he was a small plant digimon by the name of Tanemon, which by immediate discovery, everyone except for the little guy burst out laughing.
Max put the plant digimon back on his head and smiled the goofy guilmon smile. "Well...let's go...Maybe that old man can explain a few things...that SHOULD be his house up there." Max used a claw to point up a tall hill covered in lush grass, At it's top was a wooden Cottage, it looked well built and a lot of care is most definitely put into maintaining it.
It took them the better part of 10 minutes to finish climbing the hill, whoever lived up top obviously didn't have TOO many visitors, considering the effort just to reach the top. But once they did, Max gave the door a few knocks with the backhand of his paw. "Uhm...Hello?" He knocked again after nobody answered for a few moments. "We came all the way to the digital world to talk to you...are you gonna answer?"
For a while...silence. Max was about to knock again when the door slid open and an elderly looking guilmon stood forth to greet them. "Forgive me...It takes awhile for me to get from one part of the house to another. Old age has gotten to me, please...come in."
Max looked around, stepping into the Cottage, for something that a dinosaur lived in, it looked relatively clean. No claw marks appeared to smear the walls, and there were even human furnishings. "Can you explain to me how you know me? And...why we've been called to this world? And how can I get my body back?"
The Guilmon's ears twitched a bit, but regardless of Max's pestering, he maintained his composure and opened a door to the back. "Come." Was the only word he uttered as he stepped through, sitting himself on a chair behind a mahogany desk.
"OK now that we're in here...can you explain everything to me NOW?!" Max asked, flailing his arms up.
"Calm yourself my child...You have the same impatient attitude your father had when he was your age...But I suppose I wasn't at all TOO different either." The guilmon uttered quietly. Giving Max a knowing smile, he lifted his paw. "First off I believe introductions are in order...as a full breed I don't have a birth name, only the name of my species but to you...as well as to Fang, you can address me as Grandpa."
Max stopped flailing his arms when the Guilmon said this, it was the last thing he expected. "Grandpa? Are you saying...you're MY father's father?" When the old digimon nodded, he couldn't help but laugh. "I don't believe this...YOU put me through hell! You didn't even bother coming to our rescue when we were up against a royal knight!"
"You have me all wrong...If I had the power and the authority I would have gladly went to your world, and settled the battle of my past long ago. Alas it has been set onto you as a burden. Due to what occured in the past I have been forbidden to travel between the worlds. And since then the portals have been severely restricted, only digimon of the lowest levels can pass through them in their current state, digimon that...while dangerous...any pokemon trainer could probably handle on their own." The guilmon took a deep breath, trying to spread out his explaination. "Let me start from the beginning...When I was your age I was already a royal knight! One of the thirteen gaurdians of the all mighty King Drasil, the digital worlds deity. And during that time both worlds were suffering from a crisis. A crisis worse than the D-reaper, it was known simply as the darkness. It lived everywhere, it grew in the hearts of digimon and humans."
Max took a seat as he soaked this in, the rest of the group followed suit as chairs materialized digitally behind them. "Like Reapermon?"
With a snap of his claws, Guilmon nodded. "Exactly...Reapermon is a remnant of the battle of the past. Digimon are often more pure than the human spirit so the darkness laid waste to the human world, and needless to say...our king decided that the human world wasn't any of our concern. I thought otherwise, the human world was our shadow, and I felt if that world dissapeared then it was only a matter of time before the darkness reached ours and we suffered the same fate. That was when I inherited the power of light. And with it I was able to banish the darkness, but at the cost of losing my knighthood, and the ability to digivolve."
"Wait wait wait...So you saved the world...and you were stripped of your rank?!" Max asked, baffled that his grandfathers peers would do such a thing.
"Of course...I ignored our kings orders. But even with all my strength in the light, I was only able to DELAY the inevitable. 500 years passed and well...it came out as Reapermon. Of course that is only a small portion of what I had to face as a knight. Tell me this Max...do you think you and Pyre would have been able to succeed against the darkness had it been over a thousand Reapermons?"
That got Max gulping, he was the only one in their group that actually battled Reapermon head to head. "A-Are you kidding me? We had enough trouble battling ONE. You can't be serious...it was THAT bad?"
"WORSE. The numbers of our enemy were countless. BUT Reapermon's power pales in comparison to the original MIGHT of the Darkness. Right now there is a group of digimon seeking to harness it's power." Guilmon took a deep breath, leaning back into the chair that signed with the dino's weight. "I am in no position to help anybody, but you and your friends have already proven capable of handling whatever comes your way. I'd like to ask of you to become the defenders of both worlds."
"Max...you said there was a chance Reapermon was still alive right...?" Fang asked, patting his brother's back with a gloved paw.
For a moment, Max said nothing, he simply took in the seriousness of the situation. After digesting the implications of such a plan he nodded. "It's more than just a chance. According to what Guilmon just said, Darkness is in the hearts of both digimon AND Humans, even pokemon have Darkness inside of them. Reapermon was released after Jesse became aware of himself, and could be hiding in the digital world and we wouldn't know it."
There was a look of irritation on the Guilmon's face. "Call me Grandpa...But you're right to be weary. Reapermon was but a fraction of it's power, and his awakening has released another deadly beast. One born from the Darkness as well, as apparent by his title of one of the seven great demon lords." Guilmon took a deep breath, then lifted his paws up which began to glow a bright yellow. "His name is Belphemon, he is a powerful and wicked Digimon, capable of turning the hearts of those around him in his favor through manipulation of their emotions. For this task I fear that your group, and the one Jesse is tasked to bring together won't be enough. You must find others that will become the gaurdians of the light, and to do that I give to each of you this."
The light glowing along Guilmon's paws split into four orbs of light, each one floating infront of Max, Fang, Flare, and Charmeleon. "Each of you grab ahold of the light in your paws."
They stared at one another, before reaching their hands out to touch the orbs of light, once they did so however, the light began to take shape, turning into a digivice in each of their paws. "W-woah what the heck is this?!" Charmeleon cried out, pointing at the digivice in his hand.
Guilmon grinned, standing up before the four of them. "They are called digivices...normally they are given to a human to aid their digimon companions in digivolution. But these are a special model...they will give you the ability to evolve into stronger creatures should you meet the proper requirements.
Max gripped the digivice in his paw, wondering where he would put it, then just as quickly as they came they all vanished. "I can feel it, the light has merged with us, so we don't even have to HOLD those contraptions to feel it's effects. So then...there's four of us that can digivolve freely..." It suddenly hit him. "Hold on! Does that mean RainbowDragon, and Jesse are going to recieve this gift too!"
"They, as well as Nidoking and Scavenger. Between the eight of you, I believe this world will be in capable hands. If you're confused about a new species of digimon that you've never encountered, just call the digivice to your paw, it's a compendium of knowledge sort of like the human worlds pokedex. YOu merely have to point it in the direction of a digimon you're interested in, and it will give you detailed information on it's species."
Fang and Charmeleon looked at one another, called on the digivice's as they were instructed and they appeared in each digimon's paws. Immediately, they were given information on one another's new species.
Max did the same for Bulbasaur, laughing as he got a good biography of his partner's new form. "Tanemon huh? Well it definitely suits you...So then Gramps, where should we begin our search for this band of digimon?"
Guilmon approached Max, placed a paw on his shoulder and smiled kindly. "I suggest going into town...see what information you can find there and go on from there. I've already uploaded a couple days worth of food into each of your digivices but from there you'll be on your own alright?"
Max nodded, giving a small grin as he hugged his Grandfather. "I'm glad I finally met you...And we won't let you down sir! We'll definitely put a stop to whatever plan those digimon are up to!"
Back in the real world, Scavenger was sipping some tea in a cafe in Cherrygrove city, it felt good to be able to relax now that the worst was behind him. Heck he was even spending the pleasant evening with a fellow dragon by the nickname Kiya, a green scaled dragon with a yellow scales covering his belly and the underside of his tail and two horns protruding from the top of his head. "Well...I checked on that thing for you, turns out you had a few stalkers that were interested in your scales. A quick draw of my sword was enough to scare them off though..." Scav muttered as he took another sip.
"Well that's good! I know it was sort of an odd job...but I do appreciate it." Kiya laughed, setting himself to pay for the tab this visit.
"Don't worry about it, always a pleasure helping a fellow dragon out. Besides, compared to what I've been doing the past year it was simple...Though...not anywhere near as amusing." Scav chuckled, waving a dismissive claw. "Don't worry about it. I'll cover the tab, I'm the only one sipping tea anyway."
Kiya chuckled, tapping a claw on the table a bit. "So then what do you want to do now? I mean now that you're free."
SD let out a deep sigh, set the mug down and shrugged. "I don't think I'll be free for very long. In my line of work you always stay busy. But I'm up for anything, how about we go check out the sprout tower, it's only a town away and we have nothing better to do..."
"That sounds like a plan to me!" Kiya stood up, waited for Scav to pay the tab then the two were off.
Passing by a couple of Typlosions along the way, one was wearing a flame styled windbreaker and a black cap over his head, while the other was donning a white hoodie, with japanese characters on the arm of the hoodie.
Scav laughed, looking over a map even though he didn't really need to. Thankfully since neither of them were trainers they didn't need to worry about anybody issuing a challenge to them.
"So, you can't find any word on where Scavenger is?" Rex looked up, addressing his own Charizard that was carrying a large pouch over it's belly to handle deliveries. "He must be traveling from town to town. Okay how about sending some of your boys to the smaller cities, for now ignore Goldenrod since that would be way too much ground to cover, instead spread them over the starting cities, like Cherrygrove and Violet city."
The Charizard snorted, but gave a short nod. "I'll do what I can. This dragon doesn't like to be found OR stay in one city for too long. We'll give it a few more days but after that they might lose their patience." With that he took flight, leaving the Bellows island behind him.
Max hefted his booksack, which thanks to his grandfather, he quickly managed to digitize and store inside of his body, including the pokeballs he usually left strapped to his belt. "Alright everybody, are we all ready to go?"
Charmeleon, or rather CORONAMON as he was known as now, rubbed his chin, but leapt on Max's back with a smile. "Of course! We're here with you till the end!"
Max's grandfather stepped in, watching the rowdy bunch with a laugh. "Now look...most digimon you'll encounter should be friendly. BUT there will be the occasional jackass so be careful, Reapermon isn't the only digimon that would like to see harm done to you."
"Got it!" Max smiled, his tail swaying from side to side as he tried to pull Coronamon off. "So the town we're going in is just down the hill right? We'll give you a call once we hear anything."
The guilmon nodded, smiling as he opened the front door for the group of digimon friends. "Be careful all of you. and I love you Max, you as well Fang, afterall you are my grandson as well."
Fang blushed, walking to the elder and giving him a soft jab to the arm with his boxing glove. "Thank you sir. I hope Max and I will get the chance to get to know you once all of this is over."
The guilmon smiled, wrapping his arms around Fang in a hug and nuzzled him, then proceeded to do the same to Max. "Let's all get together again soon. Do me proud boys..."
With a group nod, the four of them, plus a Tanemon on Max's head, they set out of the cottage to begin their adventure through the digital world, starting with the town at the bottom of the hill.
