For those who didn't grow up in the US, DARE is an anti drug program that /tries/ (keyword being try) to educate children on drug usage, but all they seem to focus on is Marijuana and they greatly exagerate their claims.
Now, obviously we need to educate children on the hazards of drug use and the effects it has on your brain at an early age, but DARE seems to be stuck in the 1930's Reefer Madness mindset. They also rarely mention the really hazardous narcotics such as Meth, Crack, Heroine, etc and choose to just focus on Marijuana. I know brutally murdering their mascot doesn't help, but it's still annoying when they do this sort of thing.

I remember Darren. I liked him. This was before I realized that I was a furry, however, and I really didn't listen to what he said. He did drone on a lot about marijuana being a gateway drug, and that if you try it, you're more likely to try the harder stuff... Maybe if he focused more on the dangers of prescription opiates we'd be better off and the anti-drug campaign would have been more successful.
