Dragon hunting


It took them a couple days worth of travel, but Jesse and Nidoking finally made their way back to Goldenrod city, along the way they did detour to reform past victims but now they were finally back in the center of the town, walking right into the casino to meet up with RD

RD was right back where he had been, he had mainly been doing card flipping which meant better odds and had been doing ok but was now growing a bit bored as he left

Jesse bumped into him on the way in, chuckling "Oh, just the dragon I was looking for!"

RD blinked, a bit taken aback but then smirked "So it's time already? Alright"

Jesse nodded a few times "The competitions over so Max, Fang and Flare all left ahead of us. Took the extra time to reform some of our...victims minus one."

"Oh who's the one you missed?" RD had been a little bit nicer and more polite after the nasty fight they had a long while ago, however him and nidoking always seemed to get into some kind of weird argument everytime they got together, thankfully RD was getting better at that

with a sigh, Jesse began rubbing the back of his head, frowning "That would be Leo...He's an old friend of Max and I. Since Nidoking didn't eat him it's not exactly possible to reform him. And his soul lives inside of Max." Nidoking looked about, making sure nobody came snooping in on their conversation

RD blinked "That's a lot more complicated to do then the straight up reforming we have been doing as of late"

Jesse nodded a few times "I don't think it's possible to reform him actually...reason being his body's probably already reformed in the digital world as an egg. Only thing keeping it from hatching is likely his soul."

"So you want me to come with and find his egg then?" RD asked "If so I'm actually kind of excited"

Jesse grinned, that was exactly what he was thinking. "It's a perfect enough excuse to go to another world don't you think?" Nidoking snorted a bit "We still need to find SD before we can leave though. It's not like we have a spare portal opener afterall." The ground type grumbled*

RD winced then groaned "Do you always have to be like that? Well in any case yeah we need SD, don't know how he's so good at those portal magic though"

Jesse shrugged his shoulders "If I knew, we could create a portal right now. Though I think I know a way we can get SD to show up, but it would require going back to the Bellows island...Think your wings are strong enough?"

RD thought then nodded "Yeah I'm pretty sure I can get us to the island" RD spread his wings, and gave them a few experimental flaps "Just not sure how tired i'll be after it's all said and done"

Nidoking rolled his eyes, but couldn't speak any protests as Jesse called him into his ball "That's fine...after we get there it'll probably take a little bit for us to find him anyway. You'll have plenty of time to rest your wings."

RD nodded "Alright well let's go" Turning around, RD lowered himself so that Jesse could ride "THe easiest way to ride on an anthro dragon is piggyback so let's do that"

Jesse climbed onto RD's back as he heard that, then once he was comfortable, he gave a few pats. "Well I hope all this past years actions have kept me light." He laughed

RD winced "Yeah well anyways" Giving a few experimental leg flexes he took off

"Hey, thanks for slapping sense back into me by the way. Nidoking doesn't remember anything about his untimely demise and I'm grateful for that." Jesse spoke softly, enjoying the flight.

"Yeah I was sure that it was a bit over the top with what I did, honestly though I feel bad about it now, thanks to someone else I was essentially used" RD said thinking back

Jesse looked to the side, nodding "Hey least you didn't have an evil spirit using you as it's vessal. I was being used as little more than a container to house Reapermon till he could break loose."

"Yeah yeesh I'd hate to be used like that" RD said cringing as he heard this

"Believe me it was no picnic. But thanks to you and Max I was able to embrace my true power, and a darkness that comes natural. One that doesn't involve hurting innocent people. And one that won't make me turn on my friends." Jesse started breathing a little more calmly.

RD nodded "Turning on your friends is never a good thing." Looks out "Hrmm I don't think we're there yet"

Jesse nodded, sighing "Not at all. I mean, I even turned on you and all I knew about you at the time was that you were looking for Max." Jesse pulled out his pokegear to check their distance on the map "It should be just past Cianwood city."

"Oh so we're not even close yet" RD started flying faster

Jesse held on tight, checking his pokegear "Well we ARE flying to the other side of the region so it makes sense. Go as fast as ya can but don't tire yourself too much before we get there."

RD took a deep breath, before flying faster.

Jesse cringed, feeling the wind pressing against his face "Eesh next time remind me to buy some goggles." He joked, wearing the armor of Loweemon to lessen the wind force on his face at this point

RD kept flying trying to head toward's the destination as quickly as possible, wanting to get on land as soon as he could.

Jesse kept his eyes on the pokegear at this point, seeing the blip that was their location quickly making it's way to their destination to Bellows island, which once they got there wouldn't be TOO hard to find given it's size and the castle propped up at the top of it's mountain.

"I think we're getting close right?" RD asked, hopeful.


Jesse nodded "We should be. Just keep going straight, I mea-" Jesse looked at the pokegear then at what looked to be the island they were looking for, he gave the same expression under his armor that Max had on their first visit "From the way Flare commented on his home he said it was SMALL!"

RD blinked in surprise but then laughed "Jesse, we're talking the number one most popular pokemon WORLDWIDE, why would it be SMALL!"

Jesse let that comment hang for a while before blushing "I'm sure if Nidoking heard you say that he'd probably go nuts. But I guess you're right, a Char farm would need to be pretty big..."

RD laughed hard "Hey don't kill the messenger for stating basic facts"

Jesse shrugged "I think there's a landing pad up on the top of the building for Charizards, According to Flare."

RD nodded as he went to the top of the building, making as careful a landing as possible, given the various burn and claw markings on the landing pad.

Jesse nodded, taking a deep breath once they finally managed to land "Whew...If you want, I can have Nidoking carry you inside if you're too exhausted."

"I can walk but man am I tired" With that, RD stretched his legs out, glad to finally be on solid ground than stuck in the wind.

Jesse laughed "Well...maybe our hosts will be kind enough to feed us." Jesse walked over to the door on the roof and opened it for RD "For now we need to find Rex."

"Erm right" RD nodded slowly as he went through the door, recalling the buildings hallways from his last visit with Max and the group.

Jesse whistled the whole way, keeping up with the dragon and finding themselves standing infront of a large door, obviously the master chamber. "Alright...I think you should go first err...heh..." He ducked behind RD.

RD nodded "Right" He stepped in first, opening the door carefully to see the hard working human from last time. Rex, a burly looking man with the muscles to show, but with his line of work he needed to look every bit as impressive as a Charizard, heck his hair flowed down his head and was styled to look like the mane of a Pyroar.

Rex noted his door opening and spotted RD right behind it, he shut a book he was reading on his table to greet his guests "You should have called really. How's my son faring? I haven't heard from any of you in the past two months."

"He's doing fine. I thought he was keeping in contact with you though" RD said, trying to be respectful.

Rex nodded, rubbing his mane a bit "He's been pretty forgetful. Every now and then Charmeleon will call us but it's usually when Flare's sound asleep. So how can I help you guys? I'm sure it must have been a long trip."

"Erm we're trying to get ahold of our friend SD, Jesse what is the plan here?" RD asked, confused since he wasn't told the plan ahead of time.

Stepping from behind RD, Jesse began scratching his cheek "Well...SD is a hunter of sorts...he appears when someone's looking for his services." Rex blinked, taking a deep breath and huffed "And you want to use...my shipping company to lure him out here I take it? Well...I COULD do it. Considering you've been taking care of my boy I guess I could have Charizard spread the word..."

"That would be super helpful thank you Sir!" RD said smiling.

Rex nodded, stacking a few papers "It might take awhile but I'll get it done. In the meantime you two can help me look after the young Charmander and Charmeleon here. I've been shorthanded you could say."

"That shouldn't be a problem" RD smiled, swaying his tail a bit"I like them myself"

Jesse nodded in agreement "Same here, I can help you out."

Rex chuckled, nodding. "Good! Alright one of you can go onto the beaches and tend to the Charmander, while the other keeps an eye on the Charmeleon in the elevated levels of the island."

RD was off before he finished the sentance. "Dibs on the charmander!"

Jesse blinked when RD took off, before chuckling "Guess he likes Charmander. Alright I'll go check on the Charmeleon then." He was off too, leaving Rex scratching his cheek in confusion for a moment, but the Burly human got to work immediately on the task he was asked to do.

When RD got there the charmander was WAY too close to the beach, but as soon as the little Charmander caught sight of RD it was all over him, climbing ontop of the dragon.

Jesse was looking on from a distance up on the hilltops, checking up on some of the Charmeleon who injured themselves in battle and making sure others didn't start any further trouble, though he couldn't help but laugh when he saw the Charmander leap over to RD, it was cute.

The charmander had in the span of around a few seconds had climbed up onto his wings and was now latched onto them.

Jesse was grinning all the while, there was no question he was enjoying the sight as the charmander was apparently playing piggyback with him. "Well looks like he likes ya."

"Yeah TOO much if ya ask me." The charmander bit into his wing "ouch how young is this charmander? It's teething"

Jesse grinned, watching with amusement "Well Rex didn't tell us THAT much. But if it's teething it must be relatively young."

"Yeah enough to chew on my wings, it's fangs must be coming in" RD cringed, feeling the small fangs bitting at his wings but remained still so as not to scare the little guy.

"Well good thing they HAVEN'T come in completely. Or I'm sure it'd hurt a lot more." He crossed his arms then pushed against two Charmeleon trying to pick a fight with each other "Oh no ya don't!"

"Looks like you have a different problem there" RD winced, watching the two going at it.

Jesse sweatdropped, nodding "Yeah, problem with Charmeleon...every one of them want to prove themselves a capable warrior..."

"I didn't think that started until the final evolution" RD was a tad confused, as was the Charmander apparently as they both tilted their heads at the same time.

Jesse shook his head "Most usually start in the Charmeleon stage, they become more aggressive and they're always seeking a challenge. It's so much simpler as a Charmander and honestly I'm surprised Flare's Charmeleon can surpress his urges so easily."

"Wow yeah maybe he takes that out with trying to look after Flare the guy has him on pins and needles half the time"

Jesse sweatdropped, he pushed on a third Charmeleon keeping them down and after a few more moments they cooled off "That's true...With a trainer like Flare you don't really have the time to do much else..." He then started laughing "Then again I guess that's why they make the perfect pair. If it were any other Charmeleon, Flare would probably be char broiled at this point..."

"Yeah no kidding, on the plus side despite it's power it doesn't look like it's going to evolve anytime soon that would be problematic" RD replied, addressed the Charmander.

Jesse looked at the Charmander "Well least it's just one...I could only imagine you covered in bite marks all over if any more showed up. But I'm going to go tend to a few more injured Charmeleon then I'll go see about working on dinner. Come on back to the castle once you're ready to eat." He laughed, grabbing a few potions from his bag and tending to some Charmeleon

RD managed to pry the teething charmander off of him which now looked bored and put him down "You know that charizards seem to have an instant dislike of dragonites"

Jesse wrapped a few bandages to the Charmeleon, gave them a pat on the head, some growled, but the others seemed to lean into the petting "That...wouldn't surprise me. I mean dragons are territorial even if Charizard aren't classified as Dragon."

"Yeah just their mega evolution but dragonites I thought were pretty peaceful and good natured. Charizards can be aggressive but not to that point....I thought"

"Well....Charizards love to fight...they go out of their way seeking a battle. I don't think Dragonite's feel the same way...still Charizards still have their sense of honor, I mean if their opponant is weaker than them they won't use their fire."

"Very true and dragonites aren't weak by any means" RD blinked when his belly started growling. "Ok i'm hungry, should I bring the charmander in with me?"

"Hmmmm...Well he seems particularly young, I don't think he'd be able to go food hunting on his own yet so go ahead and bring him in." Jesse finished tending to the Charmeleon's wounds and started making his way back up the mountain, then called out Nidoking once he was at it's base "This time let's use Rock climb to get to the top."

"RD blinked* "You mean with nidoking?" He wondered if Nidoking could carry all of them.

"Yeah, I mean it'll give you extra time to rest your wings, and nobody's faster digging through earth OR climbing than Nidoking. it's where he excells." Jesse praised, patting Nidoking as he climbed on.

"Sounds like a good idea, I'm pooped" RD said sighing, carefully climbing onto Nidoking with the Charmander carefully hanging to his wings.

Nidoking nodded, pumping his arms in preperation for the climb. "Alright, all aboard the Nidoking express. Please keep your arms and legs on my back at all times." Nidoking waited until everyone was on before he started scaling the mountain, surprisingly making the trip in mere minutes

RD held on tight, not quite expecting such speed from such a bulky form but once they made it to the top he finally spoke out. "Woah...faster than I expected."

Nidoking snickered, stretching his body out when they made it to the top "Like Jesse said...Nobody knows the earth more than a ground type. I may look like a pudgy beast but I can be fast...heck...shoulda seen me run from the silver conference back to the hotel after the competition was over."

Jesse couldn't help but laugh, patting Nidoking's side before climbing down to walk beside him. RD joined him soon after. "You really didn't have to do that either...you could have used dig!" Jesse teased, before they finally stepped through the doors, a couple of Charizard closed it promptly after before locking it. Looks like they'd be staying for the night, maybe longer.
