Heroes of Hexen II
This is a fan art made by me of the main characters from 1997's fantasy fps Hexen II for PC, made by Raven Software and published by id Software, a sequel to 1994's Heretic and 1995's Hexen. The characters being from left to right:
Demoness (extra character who came with the expansion Portal of Praevus), Assassin, Paladin, Crusader and Necromancer.
And some brief facts to people who aren't familiar with these games:
Hexen 1 and 2 aren't direct sequels to Heretic but are set in the same universe and have similar gameplay and style with each other. These three games in whole make the Serpent Riders- trology (Heretic II had whole new story). Hexen II is set once again in different world than in Heretic and Hexen, but in the same universe, so the main characters aren't the same as in Hexen. In this game you play as either Paladin, Crusader, Necromancer or Assassin in the world of Thyrion, trying to defeat the third and last serpent rider Eidolon and the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Main differences with Hexen-games compared to Heretic and later Heretic II was there were different playable characters, each with own strengts, weaknesses and weapons, whereas Hereitcs were pretty much Doom with fantasy weapons. Also instead of going level to level, there are different hubs with their own levels and you have to visit the same levels more than once to open new paths in the other level. This formula Hexen II uses as well. Whereas Hertic and Hexen used id's Doom engine, Hexen II on the other hand uses Quake 1's engine. All games were developed by Raven Software.
The game also got an expansion/mission pack in 1998 named Portal of Praevus, which added fifth playable character Demoness, and a new story set in the events after the main game.
Heretic, Hexen and Hexen II can be bought in Steam, but sadly Portal of Praevus and later Heretic II aren't there or anywhere else.
It was about time for me to get done and upload a proper fan art of Hexen II as well since the whole Heretic/Hexen series have always been important to me ever since I was a child and one of my favorite fps's from 90's. I've already uploaded a fan art of Corvus, the hero of Heretic 1 and 2 http://kiljunator.deviantart.com/ar.....etic-344203359 but I haven't finished a fan art of Hexen 1's heroes yet. Reason why I finished this fan art of Hexen II first was that I have even more fond memories of that game, though I still like Hexen 1 as well very much (1998's Heretic II is my favorite of the series).
