With a grunt, Napther unloaded the last cart of cakes into Azar's cleaned up workshop. "There we go, that's the last one." he said to the white dragon. Azar came around and stared in awe at all the cakes that were in front of him.
"All of this just for my hatchday party?" he asked. There was every kind of cake he could imagine here. Chocolate, white, red velvet, carrot cake, cheesecake, confetti, it was all here! At least one of every kind of cake had been made for him from. Both fellow dragon friends had sent some and many of the bakeries in the city had made them to celebrate their local celebrity's birthday.
"Almost. There's one more cart in the back. Once we have those unloaded, we'll be ready for everyone to show up." Napther said. Azar nodded and went back to cleaning up the workshop while Napther went to the back of the building.
As the blue dragon was hooking the large cart up to himself, he heard a commotion from inside. There was the sound of crashing, then a heavy thud. Knowing that the workshop was a mess of scrap metal and prototype inventions, Napther hurried back inside in case Azar had moved something he shouldn't have, and a pile of metal had fallen down on him.
However, the sight that greeted him wasn't what he was expecting at all. In front of him, in place of the thin birthday dragon, was a very bloated, stuffed Azar sitting on his hind legs. The dragons' belly passed his paws and he couldn't even get his claws to reach around to each other around his belly. The rounded white dragon sat in place of where all the cakes had been, groaning a little in discomfort. Not a single crumb of the cakes or smear of frosting was left behind. Just an empty open area for the big-bellied drake to sit.
The white dragon looked to be in a state of bliss, or a trance, and when Napther appeared in the doorway he quickly shook his head and came out of it. "Oh! Napther! Uh...uh...help! I was cleaning the workshop and this, um...wizard! Yes, this wizard came out of nowhere! He must have cast one of those fattening spells on me!" the white dragon exclaimed.
Napther looked at Azar with plenty of doubt. "Uh huh...and the cakes?"
Azar paused a moment, looking away as if thinking. "Umm...I haven't seen where the cakes went. But I'll bet he used some sort of teleportation spell to take them and ruin the party!" he quickly said.
Napther still looked unconvinced.
"We can't let this travestiy stop the party! We're going to need cakes to serve the guests! Do you think it would be possible to get more?" he asked, smiling sheepishly and hungrily at Napther.
Napther sighed and smiled. "Yeah, there should be enough time to get a few more cakes. But we won't be able to get as many now. So that 'wizard' probably won't find it as worth it to steal the cakes again," he said before turning and heading into town to ask the bakers to make some more cakes. Napther didn't feel the need to tell Azar he still had frosting all over his tongue and maw from the cakes.
