I finally found someone to do regular art exercises with. spartangreywolf and I will be doing sketch topics every other day. I suggested we start with topics and the first one he gave me was “Traffic Lights”. I decided to make “pony character” from it. I’ve been trying to get better at the style for commissioning purposes but I find getting it right quite difficult for some reason so I used my usual more realistic approach for him.

My main problem when trying to “quick sketch” is that I get bogged down with details and something that was meant to be quick takes more time than it should. I gave myself a time limit, which I promptly broke, to aid myself in getting things done much faster. I envy artists who can sketch fast and well. People tell me how much they enjoy the details I put into my work but it takes me forever to make them.
