It's a creature I made up while drawing some Runescape art. I even went into great detail with this beast.

Shade Beasts are ancient canine-like creatures that seem to date back a long time. Nobody knows how long they have existed, but it can be assumed that they date back to at least the second age, if not earlier. They are creatures made entirely of shadows and thus this makes them immune to most forms of attack, as the attacks go right through them. They had be hit by attacks thrown at them through the use of a special weapon. Shade Beasts are known to be highly aggressive and will attack anyone or anything on sight, therefore they do not usually make good companions and should be avoided unless on is prepared for a fight. They are bloodless and formless and will occassionaly shift their appearance to make them stronger against enemy attacks. Their eyes glow a soulless white and it is said that staring into the eyes of a Shade Beast will freeze the person in fear. They have very higher lifepoints and a very high max hit, but they are unusually low in the defense department and this is why they will often shift forms to better prepare themselves for enemies. They should not be taken lightly. With thier high attack and max hit, they can dish out some serious damage before they are taken down. They like to attack in groups and will often surround a player and patiently wait for their turn, or attack in a frenzy if in a multicombat zone. They cannot be damaged by the Dwarf Multicannon. Shade Beasts only have one thing on their mind, to kill. Nothing else matters to them. They are created for Vampyres for the sole purpose to mangle their enemies and will do so violently. They will stay close to their summoners, if summoned, unless they go rogue, which happens occassionally. When their HP is very low, they will slaughter themselves and give their life force to their master.

Shadow Dust is a unique item that is only dropped by Shade Beasts. It is said to be created by the darkness itself and it sometimes claimed to be the beast's shattered heart. These give wonderful prayer xp when returned to the shadows.
