This is another old character of mine that deserved an updated look, this is Doctor Drexel.
Drexel is a cybernetics and genetics doctor, meaning that his main area of expertise deals with technology that effects the body and genetics of creatures, such as organic prosthetics and nanomachines.
One of the reasons for his research is personal, at an early age he was involved in a laboratory accident that nearly took all of his left arm. The accident also left a curious, star-burst shape scar over his left eye.
Unfortunately his research has lead him down many 'shadier' paths of employment, rumors saying that he has done research regarding creating bio-weapons, from viruses and diseases to mutated shock troops, but no one has been able to confirm or deny these claims.
Drexel's design hasn't changed a lot when I first drew him, so this is a much needed update for him, keeping his design simple. I probably can simplify the star-burst scar on his eye, so I will probably modify that later.
The style I drew Drexel in was heavily influenced by Yark-Wark, so thanks for the inspiration Yark.
Drexel's name is influenced from the Drexel University, who not only have a dragon for their mascot but also deal in the medical field.
I decided to try something different with the shading here, using a 'gradient shading' method, and overall I like how it looks, though there are some parts that bother me, so I may edit it some later.
Photoshop CS3.
Drexel and art are mine.
