2015 project.
This is a new batch of ACEO designs I finished over the weekend. I needed some new stuff to show at ConQuesT at the end of May.
Done with watercolor and ink. Each dragon has a semiprecious stone that corresponds to its color.
Red has an agate.
Orange has a carnelian.
Yellow also has an agate.
Green has an aventurine.
Blue has a lapis lazuli.
Indigo has a kyanite.
Violet has an amethyst.

These are mew-tiful! Much like all your work, is mew-tiful! But I love that you have incorporated a stone into each piece! If you decide to do more of these, I have some suggestions for other stones you can use for some of the different colors! If you're interested in knowing, that is? I know more for red, yellow, green, blue, and violet!
I'm open to suggestions, certainly, and I have quite a lot of colors and species of stone available in my hoard. What are your favorites?
I usually match the stone to the artwork, rather than paint the artwork around the color theme of the stone. ...Not always, but that's what I've been doing for the ACEOs. My larger pieces, like that Fire of Ages 02 thing, I actually did plan around the golden/brown/gray tones in the tiger's eye stones that I used in the border decoration.

Well, for Red, I love Red Jasper, Orange=Aragonite, Yellow=Mookite, Green=Jade, Serpentine, Dragonstone, Blue=Sodalite, Blue Lace Agate, Blue Onyx, and Purple=Charoite.
I hope that's helpful to you... they all have their own unique energies, just as the stones you have already used! Your work is absolutely mew-tiful! I love these ACEOs!

Thanks for the suggestions! I have a few of those - lots of different jasper varieties, including some of that rich red; I also have sodalite and blue lace agate aplenty. The others I have not yet noticed at the rock show I attend (or they're out of my price range - jade can get pretty expensive!). I will keep my eyes out for some of the others at the show this next weekend. :D
Edit: I take it back. After I did some image research, it turns out that I may have some mookaite (definitely in the jasper family) and tiger's eye that has banding patterns that are very similar to aragonite (though definitely not the actual stone). I'd have to look closer at the blue onyx; a lot of the examples provided online look like dyed agate to me. I love that shade of blue, but if it's a dye job it can fade over time. I have some 30-year-old cabs that have done exactly that, and the look like polished boogers. Seriously. The fade from rich blue to pale, translucent booger-brownish-green is bizarre. I haven't seen dragonstone in anything but largish decorative spheres at the trade show, but I'll do some digging to see if they have it in the tiny sizes that I like to use. Serpentine I don't have. Charoite I need to see in person - that is a fantastic-looking stone, and it makes me think of the effects you can get with pearly enamel paint, or if you put an amethyst geode in a pressure cooker for 10 million years. :D
