Emily's overall a pretty energetic, happy person. She can be a little (read: incredibly) scatterbrained, but that only adds to her charm for a lot of people. Especially her girlfriend, Audrey.

Emily has two mothers, one of whom was her biological father and has since transitioned. They divorced simply because they both realized their relationship wasn't working, and continue to be on good terms to this day. Emily lived with her biological mother during her teenage years, visiting her other mom periodically. Her grandparents immigrated from Japan, and would frown disapprovingly at her during her weeb phase, but are otherwise pretty kind people. Overall, she's had a pretty decent family life, and still does.

In her teenage years, as with many people's teenage years, she spent a lot of time trying to find her niche. She wrote a lot of fanfiction which she will even now insist that she NEVER WROTE NO DON'T LOOK IT UP. After trying out a bunch of things, she eventually found her passion for drawing. The resulted in something of a rivalry with Vivian, who was a much more experienced artist. This eventually ended with Vivian becoming something of a mentor.

As for how she ended up with Audrey, she and Audrey were really good friends since they were little kids, and eventually Audrey came out with her long-suppressed crush on Emily, and she decided to give a relationship with her a chance. And that's how Emily discovered she was Bi.

Emily eventually ended up going to art school, struggling for a few years to find something to do with her degree, then ended teaming with Audrey and a few other developers, to produce the indie game of the century. Minds will be BLOWN.
