It was alright, I'm not saying go out and buy screenprinting equipment, but literally just squares of corkboard and some cheap wood carving tools to bevel into the board is all you need for hardware. You then cover it in whatever paint or ink you want with a roller and stamp it down. Hell you can do it with wood too in order to get a cool grainy texture. It can be very cheap, maybe $20 max. You won't be able to make super cool stuff like you do digitally but I bet you can do something with the texture. Hell maybe even make a digital background, print it, and put a stamp print on top of it.
