For these guys opossum, technically! Virginia Opossum. Australian species like Brushtails are just possum though.
Marsupial > Ameridelphia > Didelphimorphia > Didelphidae are all 'opossum' whereas Marsupial > Australidelphia > Diprotodontia > Phalangeridae are all 'possum.'
