I'll be posting this here first. :3
I still need to come up with a name for the species so I'll be posting all the info here before posting it over on my adopt account.
First up!!! Like my other species this will cost only $5! :D $7+ for a custom.
Species name: Blerpderpburpherp.... hur hur hur... Coming Soon. Lol.
Image reference: This one right hur... :D
Basic description: Fox like creatures with 6 thin limbs and a long body. Feathered ears, split whiskers, and an unusual tail.
In-depth description: About the size of a large cat or a small to medium dog. This six limbed creature is considered a sacred creature. They are highly intelligent and communicate through chirps sounding very much like a bird. They have a few other high pitched vocalizations. It's interesting tail follows the spine similar to a normal tail but tiny tails split from the center tail creating several tails along the main tail's length. Each can wave on their own with the center tail being very flexible. Its tail is its treasured feature with constant grooming. Its whiskers are used to detect and feed off from both natural and magical energy so if these whiskers are damaged they'll chew them off so that it will regrow within 12 hours. It is because of their feeding off from energy they have developed an ability to turn ethereal and phase through things. In their ethereal form they are see-through and sparkle with energy.
Diet: They feed on small mammals, birds, and other vertebrates. ( Such as Flametails and Ketzals. )They also feed on magical energy through their whiskers. If they over indulge they will some times release the excess in a "bubble" out of their mouth causing a small explosion. Usually done as a form of self defense before running away in their ethereal form.
Environment: As most high energy areas are inhabited by higher species/races such as the magical elves or magically learned humanoids they will dart in and out of cities and towns. They are most often found in temples or highly honored locations because of this they are considered a sacred creature attuned to the deities. It doesn't help that they hold an aloof attitude towards the inhabitants of whatever residence they have taken as their nest. The weather for the most part doesn't seem to bother them darting around during the hottest temperatures and bounding through several feet of snow during the coldest. Those in colder environments do tend to become very fluffy.
Breeding: While there is no size difference between the two genders sexing them is rather easy as they display typical canine sexual anatomy both internally and externally. They are serially monogamous, meaning they will have only a single partner until that partner passes on. They will raise their pups together until adulthood where they will push the youngsters out to start a new litter. Breeding season is during the fall where they will give birth to a litter of 6 early spring. However, most pups don't survive to adulthood.
Social Structure: Once a male finds a mate they will seek out a hidden cove to make into a den. This could be in attics or under buildings as well as in thick bushes and under tree roots. Even small caves would be acceptable. They will then bring in soft materials to line the nest to create a nice environment to house pups. The female will then start bringing the pups out after a two weeks. She will start to leave the nest more and more as she has been depleted of her magic storage and will need to eat more or she will be vulnerable. Pups as they aren't old enough to feed on magical energy on their own can not go into an ethereal state and are very vulnerable. This makes them easy targets for predators such as the Bargheist. It is quite common that family groups consist of a male, a female, and just two pups.... one for each mouth able to rescue them and take them to safety. The rest will be sacrificed to safe the nest. The family unit will then find a new location to live in and never return to the abandoned nest. Young pups found and rescued by a humanoid can be raised but will instantly leave the humanoid once they are older. They might not survive the adult world as well but they usually adapt well enough. They will visit their saviors bringing them random "gifts" from time to time.
Other: Because of their ethereal form and their need to feed on energy they can not be tamed. Even if drained of their magical energy they will find some form of primitive form of energy to feed off from just enough to allow them to escape. They can't be held by any source of magic either as they will simply just feed off from it causing whatever spell to backfire or just fade. Because of this it can be very mischievous when they make a nest in a very magic oriented house hold or area. Owners of the area will find spells dispelled or acting strangely. The Elven races will still welcome the creatures into their homes and will leave out treats for them to discourage them from feeding on certain magical objects as they are most sacred to them. Humans however tend to try and scare them out with Bargheist pets.
I might change some of the information or tweak it later on. But for now this is what I have thought of for them. :D Once they have a name they'll be entered into my Compiled Species Information List so this wont be here anymore once that happens. :D Soooo enjoy the wall of text while it's here. Lol.
