Be sure to download an XviD Codec (http://www.xvidmovies.com/codec/) to properly play the video files. I recommend downloading VideoLAN (http://www.videolan.org/), however the XviD codec should work with Window Media Player or Quicktime.
I catch this Western Plains Garter Snakes (Thamnophis radix haydeni) while visiting my Mom in Kansas. With her length being 45 cm and her stomach diameter being 2 cm, there were some ratio problems. She was either extremely fat or she had a uterus full of li'lings. Considering the fatness extended for more then half her body length, the former was highly unlikely.
I talked with the on campus herpetologist and showed him Scarlett, his input being one supporting the fatness. "She's fattening up for winter," he said. Although fattening for winter makes sense, the amount of space that fattening took up was far unlikely. Her body, starting from about the location of her left lung and extending down to the cloaca, was bulging! The underlying skin was exposed because the scales were seperated.
My predictions were correct, however. She gave on Saturday, October 4th around 2pm. My sister rushed over to the library so we could all see it.
I have an hour of high definition video footage that I am working with right now. I will be uploading it to the internet so the HDness can be enjoyed by many.
Awesome.

Here's a nice site if you'd like some info on breeding ball pythons. They give birth using eggs, so it might be more difficult to maintain.
