Artist Food Pellets
I don't know who said it- I believe it was here and I cannot find the person to give credit for, but basic gist is:
"Comments are like Artist Food Pellets. We need them to survive."
UPDATE: It's
tierafoxglove who did it. Awesome work.
It's true too. Even simple comments like 'Nice', or 'I like this', or 'I really appreciate the effort put into shading or the inner ear', or even.... "Nice feet." All of it is helpful. So often when art is posted to a web site, you have no idea if anyone actually sees it. If you have a hit counter, you might have some idea, but you don't know if they liked or didn't like it. When we post a picture and it gets a lot of favorites and comments, we get an idea for the market and can see what works and what doesn't. That really helps us improve as well. Sometimes you just toss out something really odd just to see what sort of feedback it results in.
In any case, artists love comments. Don't let them tell you different. Our egos need those food pellets to encourage to keep drawing.

Very cute:) Here's a question for you though: in your opinion, is a fav as good as a simple comment (like "nice") or do you prefer to get both? Is a comment better than a fav? Vice versa? Inquiring minds want to know.
Personally, I think a fav is just as good as a simple comment - but not as good as a more complex one.

A-FREAKIN-men on that one, brudder!! Bloody hell you nailed this one on the head! When no one seems to care about something you put so much of yourself into, it's REAL easy to develop a self-destructive mindset that you shouldn't care either. I truly know what Mark Twain meant when he said, "I can live two months on a compliment."

*commandir megafon*O' crap! I'm a sitting duck here. And just whatever I waiting for, heh? ...ah well. A bunch of comment from yesterday has gone, and I have nothing to left to drink, some heads are bound to roll today.
