Here is me digging in. It all tasted so good! Of course, I wish my omelet wrapping was on point but ah well, I just need to practice.
The recipe I found is on this site --> http://norecipes.com/omurice-recipe/
The following recipe is for 4 servings and is similar to the one on the site but with my altercations to the ingredients and instructions.
Omurice Recipe:
6 large eggs
1/2 cups heavy cream
1/2 teaspoons salt (add more to taste)
1/2 teaspoons pepper (add more to taste)
2 teaspoons vegetable oil
1 small onion diced
2/3 carrot peeled, and diced
2 small clove garlic minced
1c frozen peas
11.29 ounces cooked chicken
18.34 ounces rice – cooked short grain
6 tablespoons ketchup
4 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons chicken bullion
2-3 teaspoons of Tapatio (add more if desired)
a dash of worcheshire sauce
1. Add the oil to a 10" nonstick frying pan, then add the onions, carrots and garlic. Sauté over medium heat until the carrots are tender.
2. Turn the heat up to high, add the chicken and continue sautéing until the chicken has cooked half way.Add frozen peas and let warm through. then, Add the rice to the pan, and use a spatula to break up the clumps and combine evenly.
3. Add ketchup and soy sauce, mix until well combined. Add Chicken bullion and combine well. Add tapatio and worcheshire. Once all seasonings are combined then taste. Add extra bullion, ketchup, pepper, what ever you feel is missing.
4. Turn off heat and set rice mixture aside.
5. Add the eggs, cream to a bowl and beat until the whites and yolks are well combined.
6. Pour some of the egg mixture into the pan that is non-stick or coated with oil. Swirl the pan to spread the egg. Lower heat and let cook. After maybe 3-4 mins add a few spoonfulls on top of the egg. Fold the ends over the rice. Have a plate ready.
7. Lift pan off the heat, the omelet on the edge of the pan and flip the omelet onto the plate. It's really tricky.
8. Serve! Add writing with ketchup if desired.
