Eittan stood gawking at the sight before him, a fancy and carved wood door contained in a stonework frame stood before him where there shouldn’t be a door. Above the out of place construction was a simple sign that read ‘Ezer’s Potion Emporium’, providing the only clue as to the purpose of the mysterious doorway. Now, he had read stories of strange and magic appearing in the middle of malls or other places of shopping, but never one where the entrance appeared right next to someone’s bathroom. But, having just woken up, Eittan decided it was just too damn early to be dealing with this kind of thing. With a shake of his head, he turned to go make use of the toilet and made a mental note to investigate the door later.
It was not until after the man had breakfast that he bothered to get dressed as if he were about to go out. Not because he was expecting the door to go anywhere, but instead thinking he would need to head out to file for breaking and entering. So when the door swung open to reveal a showroom that should have overlapped with several rooms in his house he was caught rather off guard. The sign turned out to be extremely accurate as shelves of glass bottles lined and filled up shelves along the walls and populated tables around the room, each bottle filled with some kind of substance. With caution Eittan stepped into the room and began to look around. Some bottles were filled with bright coloured liquids, others filled with powders, and some even filled with floating specks of light. Each section was and bottle was carefully labelled with what Eittan could only guess as to be a supposed effect. Curious, the man took a closer look at a bookshelf labeled ‘Growth’, The bottles arranged in categories from the entire body to specific parts. And then each category was organized into sub categories of what percent the growth would be and by what Eittan assumed to be lengths of time.
The whole experience was so overwhelming that a sudden voice from behind gave him quite a startle, ”I’ll be with you in a moment!” Eittan turned to look for where it might have came from, bringing his eyes to what he could only assume to be the front counter, a simple wood construct that had its top lined with red felt. The section of the store around it had its own unique feel, with the shelves more sparsely populated and even had some unique objects amongst the bottles. Shiny rocks, ancient chemistry supplies, even crystal balls! An atmospheric creek hung in the air as a back door opened.
”Sorry about that, I was not expecting anyone to arrive so early.”
What Eittan could only describe as a large grey wolf walking upon two legs walked through the door, wearing only a cloak as it carried a rolled up cloth under his arm. Any notion of this just being a costume were instantly dispelled as it yawned slowly, letting Eittan see there was no way another head was inside there. ”So what brings you here today good sir?” The wolf asked, probably a male from the voice, as he unrolled the cloth and hung it above the counter. Revealing the cloth to be a sign advertizing free potion samples as he did so. Eittan did not respond immediately, the man too distracted by the wolf’s most unusual feature. Entire sections of the being’s fur seemed to have been replaced with something shiny and crystalline, diamond perhaps? But if it was diamond than it should not be able to move so... ”Sir?” The wolf spoke, breaking Eittan from his ponderings. “Oh, sorry. I was just investigating this strange door that certainly wasn’t there the day before. I take it you’re the Ezer mentioned on the sign?”
“Indeed I am! The door was a new installation that I purchased for the store. I figured it would be nice to reach out to new types of customers, but am still trying to work out the proper settings for it.” Ezer gave a friendly smile as he looked the man over, judging by Eittan’s staring that he might be a bit of an oddity from where the human had come from, maybe even magic itself was an oddity. With these thoughts in mind he extended his hand out for greeting, ”May I ask who you are, and where the portal ended up at?”
Eittan Looked at the hand, responding to it with a polite bow, not one to shake hands himself. “My name is Eittan, and as for your portal... I found it in my house, next to the bathroom.”
”I... see. Well, I’ll get someone to look over the settings before I launch it again.” Ezer sighed and rubbed his muzzle a little bit, watching as Eittan picked up a bottle from the counter, looking it over with curiosity.
“So... these potions are actual functioning?”
”Indeed! I figured some of the new customers my portal would reach could be unfamiliar with magical powers, which is why I have the sampling offer!” Ezer said as he gestured to the cloth sign above them.
“Sampling offer, eh? Alright then, may I try a...”
Ezer stopped the man as he held up a paw for Eittan to pause. “I’m afraid that‘s not how the offer works. Instead, you get a random sample with a couple different effects. Have as many as you like, but if you want a known effect you will need to pay for it.” placing a tray of small assorted bottles upon the counter. Eittan hesitated as he picked one up, but only for a moment before uncorking the bottle and letting the mysterious liquid within slide down his throat.
