Lately I've been feeling that Jynx is, well, invisible as a fursuit. He does not get the attention that technicolor foxes and fantastically-dressed wizards get. Perhaps it's just ego, I've been thinking for a while that Jynx needs some sort of gimmick in order to stand out from the crowd. I want to give him his own character.
What if he wore a Hawaiian shirt? What would be the context of it?

Props and Gimmicks can be cool, if carried well. Some of my faves are Jak the Wuffle and his waffle, and CheeseBeagle and Tigris and their big Cheese burgers or pretzels. I've seen suiters with bloody axes, guns, chainsaws, whatever. I kinda 'move to the other wall' since that makes me uncomfy.
I also think it's not easy to be a stand-out in a convention environment - it's that kinda "little fish in a big pond" environment. I 've found it great to be in smaller environs. I've not been able to take advantage of that lately :(
But I think the BEST way to keep from 'being invisible' is to develop a character that goes out to your compatriots, rather than having them come to you - develop an outgoing character . At the cons, theres often panels addressing this idea.
Consider this, a quote from
Yippee I try to keep this in mind always when I'm wearing Zip, and often when I am just doing non-fursuit stuff with the public:
Quote:
"Is your fursuit as "just me with fur"? it could be so much more, an idealized form of yourself, how you wish you could be, not just you but "you-plus". Look in the mirror; who do you see staring back? What is this fuzzy fellow all about? More outgoing, exciting, fun? Pretend that you ARE this fellow in the mirror, this is your fur, your muzzle, your tail. You can carry yourself differently, walk with confidence, joy, or stalk about for prey. You can show off this pretend character not just in actions, also just BEING. Walking. Don't just stand but bounce, pace, scan about. All these will help this fellow come to life. And once you pretend to be real, people will play along in this big game of pretend.
DON'T BE AFRAID TO MAKE BELIEVE"
