Final face off Part 1
Scav was looking at the ensuing battle going on through a round blue orb, held in his claws. At this point Max was already completely dominating Reapermon in his new Weregarurumon state, now he was just waiting for RD to wake up.
RD woke up, zeratrix and RD were both mentally in contact when they had taken on Nidoking so the human part of RD knew everything his dragon spirit knew, except who made that orb that sucked them in "What's going on?" RD inquired.
Scav turned away from the battle on his orb, Just as Max was knocking the wind out of the Mega digimon "Oh you're finally awake it looks like. Sorry about dragging you here, I was kind of ordered to do it. Otherwise I would have been content to see what else you would have done."
"ordered? By who?" RD asked, he wasn't much for being yanked out of a battle MID fight.
Scav sighed, shrugging his shoulders "That would be Max's grandpa...on his fathers side. The old man hardly makes sense sometimes but a jobs a job. If you want any more answers that AREN'T cryptic I'll have to take you to him."
RD nodded "OK and who's that who's fighting?" He pointed to the orb in RD's claws, indicating Reapermon and the Arcanine looking Weregarurumon.
Scav scratched his temples and explained everything that happened since RD konked out after eating Nidoking. "So that's essentially how things went down. Honestly...I never expected Jesse to awaken the ancient spirit of darkness..."
RD nodded a little bit "Oh and why didn't you tell us about this after you rescued Max's arcanine" RD asked calmly before sending a leg straight between scav's thighs, there was a carnival like 'ding' sound like you'd hear when you played the strongman game. "You just made me look like a complete jerk and hypocrite not to mention you didn't even bother to tell us you saved Pyre instead of leaving us to think that he died, why did Pyre's pokeball even break in the first place?!? I thought we were friends and you jerk us around like that?!? Ugh!"!
Scav yelped as he was kicked in the nads and jumped for a moment, he winced "I was told not to reveal anything before needed...Pyre was reconstructed to become a digimon because by the time I came to his aid I was too late for him to recover from his injuries. At that point it was better just to create a new digimon out of him. In a way he died but he yet lives. Anyways if you want to know WHY I did it, you need to ask the man in charge. I only knew there was good intentions."
RD rolled his eyes "They may have been good intentions but you know how I feel about this, ugh I'm going to meet him myself and blow off some steam while I'm at it, at this point all you are is a pawn even if it was a well meaning pawn" RD said irritably "So are you going to let us out of this bubble or not?"
Scav crossed his arms at being called a pawn but he nodded "I don't deny my role in all of this, it's a necessary title if it keeps a mighty apocalypse from returning. I'll send us directly to my employers home. There you can blow off all of your steam..." Scav waved a hand as a portal appeared before them "After you."
RD nodded "Thank you" He entered, after which there was a lot of loud shouting, one of which was obviously RD the other was not really shouting but the confused explanations of another man and then to top everything off pokemon cries were heard in the mix, then with a resounding THUMP they were quickly silenced, the last thing you hear is "I know you're doing it for Max's sake from what I hear he's been through a lot, but don't put him in any more pain then he needs to be in! He was seriously upset there and to make matters worse I looked like the bad guy!"
Scavenger cringed, hearing everything going on on the inside of the building, A guilmon rubbed his temples as he stared at RD "Do NOT question my reasonings dragon, I know more than you think. If the traveling between the human and digital worlds weren't so strict I'd have gone down there and solved everything myself. Alas I've been forbidden to travel to the human world. I don't think you understand the true gravity of the situation...or the reason behind Max's trials..."
"All I know is Max is suffering for these trials, and to top things off it's his own family that's causing it! I mean between his friend going nuts, him losing Pyre, and me doing something so brutal that even the brainwashed friend thought I was a monster....and I was supposed to help! Anyways I'm going back, thanks for saving Pyre, but don't do that again! He's been through enough"
The guilmon took a deep breath "If I had my way I'd be there, Pyre wouldn't have gotten hurt, Leo wouldn't have died and Reapermon would never have been created. As I said you don't understand the situation...When you're capable of listening to an old man that's lived ten human lifetimes then come back." He muttered, rubbing his snout.
"Maybe later after I've reformed nidoking and apologized for this misunderstanding that you two caused! In any case I'm going back to the fight" RD said, his tail twitching a bit.
The guilmon shook his head "You misunderstand, Your actions have woken Jesse up, because of you he's realized his actions have consequences to everyone around him. You may not be the most favorite person or likeable person in his life now, but you've taught him a lesson that hits home better when it happens than just merely speaking about it. Before you go just know this, what you're fighting is a phantom of it's former self."
"Oh, and what is it's former self? No never mind, I better calm down first before this is all done" RD thought then nodded "Ok SD we're going back"
Guilmon rolled his eyes, Scavenger nodding to RD "Believe me, I think all of this hurt him just as much as it did Max. No grandfather wants to see their grandson in pain. He had his reasons, likely for something neither you or I can't see yet. We'll be back someday." He opened a portal for RD
The old Guilmon took a deep breath, and cleaned up in his room with a sigh. "If the human worlds fate rests in this motley crew I worry about it's future."
RD walked through it "These portals are super useful"
SD rolled his eyes and stepped through as well "I control space...it's not that hard to create a portal."
RD let off a chuckle. "Maybe it's easy for someone who can control space but most of us can't do that"
Scavenger blinked before nodding in agreement "Point taken...I guess it IS kind of a problem in that case...I'm sure you could learn how to make a portal simple enough though...just have to be careful because...nowadays they regulate the flow between the human and digital worlds...Otherwise the old man could have came to us instead of the other way around."
"Why is he forbidden to come here anyways?" RD asked a little bit confused "Seems like it'd be a big detriment if he wanted to help"
Scav rubbed his chin, as if thinking about telling RD "I shouldn't tell you the details, I'll leave that to him once we take care of Delta. I will say this though...It's because of something he did in the human world that he isn't allowed to visit it anymore."
"Alright then I won't pry but I don't like being locked out of the loop" RD said "So we're helping take down the last guy then?"
SD shook his head, handing RD a map of the base, waving around. "No, OUR role in this battle is finished. You're too weak from your battle with Nidoking and I have a feeling Delta may be a bit out of my league. We put our faith in Max and his friends at this point, you couldn't have known...but Flare awakened the spirit of Fire, so between those three we should be fine. BUT, just in case, I'll be making my way to Delta's lair. Should they fail it'll be up to me to send everyone back to my pocket dimension for safety reasons."
RD looked down "Hrmm it's odd, but it makes sense to me, I feel a little left out myself but I can hold my own easily if worst comes to worst...and since I'm not supposed to fight in this last struggle, I'm going to wander around for a bit. I know it's silly since we're supposed to be the second string but I have to reform Nidoking anyways. And reunite him with Jesse."
Scavenger blinked, before giving a smile "I can respect that. Besides...Jesse didn't exactly give the purest answer when he was chosen as the spirits successor...for all we know he could choose to use that power on you next. Alright then I guess we'll part ways. Just don't mention anything about Max's grandfather until AFTER the silver conference."
RD folded his arms "Considering that Pyre probably already told Max that you saved him I'm not sure it matters one way or the other, he might already know why you saved Pyre or he'll ask you as soon as the fight's over. Either way he might already know"
"ANYWAYS..." RD took the time to reform Nidoking, minus the fatal attack at the end. "Nidoking won't recall what I did in the battle and that's for the best. Well SO LONG!" He waved, before turning around and leaving. Where? Who knows, but he inadvertently helped save one boy from himself, and another from his own self destruction.
Scavenger chuckled a bit, watching the blue dragon dissapear down one of the many corridors, and looked at the dazed Nidoking. "Comeon, We need to catch up to your trainer and give him whatever support we can!"
Holding his head, Nidoking gave a short nod as he looked at the orange and blue dragon ahead of him. "You got it...but...what happened?"
Scav rolled his eyes, but took the time to explain to the pokemon as they progressed through the tunnels of the base.
"Hold it...Scav you should know something about Delta..." Nidoking grumbled, his large body bounding forward after the dragon.
Meanwhile, Fang and Chaos were pinned down, bright chains ensnaring both their arms and legs to the floor as Delta finished a cup of tea. "Well...you two didn't exactly put up much of a fight. But personally, I'd rather talk instead of duke it out as these digimon would say."
with clenched teeth, Chaos lunged forward but was stopped just an inch from Delta's face. "Don't act like you're so high and mighty. Remove these chains and fight with honor!"
"Hmph, now that's a laugh. You're a being of pure darkness, yet you spout words of honor. Was there honor when you snuck under the bleachers in Goldenrod city and devoured Fang? Or how about when you snuck onto the Bellows island and attacked Max's friends instead of himself?" Delta set the glass down and stretched infront of Chaos, eyes glowing iredescent yellow right before him.
Fang yanked on the chains and shook his head. "All of that's been forgiven! Chaos has apologized for his actions and is making up for them as we take you on."
Delta turned his attention to Fang, and set a paw over the pups chin. "My boy, don't forget who raised you. I took you in and put you in that body when otherwise you would have died a stillborn."
Fang clenched his teeth, turning his head away from Delta. "You were like a father and a best friend to me Delta. But you've changed. You let darkness infect your mind, and now you're just a shell of your former self."
"Oh? Have I really succumbed to the dark? Or did I embrace it? We all have it stirring within us Fang. You and I aren't taken into it however, and that's because from one scientist to another in training...we see the world too logically to let our emotions sway our judgements. We look at this world differently from the rest of the people inhabiting the planet."
That did it for Fang, he kicked and punched the air as he tried breaking through his bindings. "That's a lie and you know it. No matter how logical you think of the world around you, it's impossible to shut down your emotions. You can hide them maybe, As I've seen from my brother...But to cast them aside is to cast aside yourself. I choose to express myself and look at the world both from a researchers perspective and an adventurers perspective. That's why, I can outsmart you."
This only made Delta chuckle, giving Fang a pat on the head. "You say that, but you're still trapped in those chains, unable to do anythi-" Delta blinked when something leapt onto his back, it looked like black and white colored Furret, latching onto his fur. "You think you can beat me with these cheap parlor tricks Fang?"
"ACTUALLY, I THINK I CAN!" A voice sounded behind Delta, it was Fang, free of his shackles as he drew on the ground using his tails, flooding the ground with his ink.
Delta's eyes went wide, turning to look at Fang with a start, he didn't understand it, then it hit him. "Impossible...your ink creatures can only be made in black and white! Hence them being made of ink!"
it was then that Chaos showed himself behind Fang, sticking his tongue out. "Well looks like your so called SON outsmarted ya and learned a few new tricks while he was away."
To that, Fang nodded as their ink dopplegangers chained to the floor melted and flowed right back into Fang's tails. "It's something I picked up on Max's home island, y'know...the place you sent me off too about three years back. The professor on the island took me in and helped me improvise the ink that I can produce with my tail...unfortunately my ink production only allows me to create creatures in black and white just like you said. BUT."
Fang lifted up a small bottle containing a red liquid, then another that contained a yellow substance. "It took me and the prof about a year but we were able to develope a type of ink that I can absorb into my tails to use for more complex purposes. My left tail can produce red, green, and purple colors now because of this...My middle tail can make yellow, blue, and orange. and of course my last tail holds my traditional black and white colorations. Though there IS one catch to this...I have to constantly refill my ink reserves with these colors after I've burned through them all. Still, it let me create a realistic version of myself! And Chaos was already black and white so he was simple from the get go."
Delta growled in frustration, the chains that had ensnared the fakes dissapeared once their catches had faded. Immediately he started yanking the Furret off his body then winced when it detonated on his touch, leaving a burn mark on his back, and his frustration getting even worse. "An explosive? Impossible...unless..."
Fang laughed, nodding a few times. "Gunpowder mixed into the ink yes. The larger my creation the bigger the bang." As he said that, he was just finishing up another painting, this one a blastoise, with rather large looking shell cannons.
"I'm surprised Fang, you used to be the type of pup that shunned violence. And here you are, making explosives." Delta waved a finger as if dissapointed, finally regaining his composure.
Adjusting his glasses, Fang looked over at the midnight furred wolf and shook his head. "I still detest violence. I am not a fighter, you know this. I'm not strong like my brother, and I'm not as couragous as Flare either. But there comes a day in every persons life where they have to stand up for themselves to protect the friends they care about."
Just as he finished declaring his resolve, the blastoise let loose, firing a blast of ink toward Delta, the midnight wolf managing to dive out of the way but the aftershock of the explosion sent him tumbling forward. "Make it easier on yourself Delta! Denounce the evil you've taken into and return to the light! You had such a wonderful golden coat and you've sullied it with darkness!"
Clenching his paw, Delta let loose a hollow laugh, the next ink blast fired at him was cut in half by a glowing energy saber, it almost looked like a lightsaber but it shined a bright light. "I've told you, darkness hasn't taken me. The light has." Just as he said that, the armor of lobomon started molding to his body, it seemed that a spirit had bonded to him as well.
"That...makes no sense!" Chaos growled out, his eyes turning to slits as his body warned him of the threat of the light. "You can't control both light and darkness! And there's no way a legendary spirit would bond with someone whose been corrupted by his own power!"
Delta took out another energy blade from his hip, holding them together in an X shape, and began deflecting the rest of the blastoise's attacks, the explosions detonating harmlessly behind him. "Oh this guy's been bonded to me for about five years now. You don't seem to realize that both light AND darkness are a part of our everyday life. Darkness isn't inherently evil, just like not all light is good. This light, will let me create a new world, where I can wash away all impurities."
"Wash this! Shadow Meteor!" Shouted a voice from outside the chambers, a blast of dark energy came firing toward Delta who used both energy swords to block the attack, though it did knock him back a couple of inches.
"We have uninvited guests it seems..." Delta muttered, watching a Loweemon, and Arcanine styled Weregarurumon step into the room. "YOu've mastered the darkness it seems Jesse."
Loweemon pointed at Delta, and shook his head. "Not Jesse, Call me Loweemon! And no thanks to you. You just used me to cultivate that Reapermon."
Max walked over to Fang, checking up on his brother then once he was sure Fang wasn't injured, he turned his attention to the Lobomon standing infront of him. "You're impure yourself. It's just like you said, not all light is good, if used by the wrong person it can be very destructive to the world around it. What you're spouting is nothing but a lie, and we're here to correct you of your mistakes."
Loweemon picked up where Max left off, materializing his spear in his right hand. "You cast away your darkness because you were afraid of it's influences, you've disturbed your own natural balance and must atone for it!"
Delta yawned, looking the two over and narrowed his eyes. "I'd like to see you try. Do you think you can really beat me?"
It didn't take Max long, he sprang into action and bared his claws down Delta, who lifted one of his sabers to defend Max's attack. Despite Max's new overwhelming strength, Delta managed to parry it with ease, and was just about to impale Max with his other blade but Loweemon leapt into the fray, using his spear to brush aside the weapon.
Thanks to Loweemon's interference, Max was able to pull away, getting a good distance away from those duel blades and grumbled. "He's not physically stronger than reapermon yet he managed to bat away my claws like they were nothing. I'm going to need something else if I'm going to fight him."
"Max! Catch!" Fang called out, throwing Max what looked like a transparent cube, which as soon as Max clutched it in his paw it transformed into a javelin, sort of like the one you'd see on a gallantmon.
"Woah! How did..." He was about to ask Fang then thought better of it, right now he needed to take care of Delta, Chaos took the initiative and digivolved into a blackgrowlmon, essentially joining their efforts in taking down the legendary warrior.
Delta however seemed unamused, he simply waved his right handed blade in a single for them to come forward. "Three on one, Well then, if it's going to be that kind of fight you better make it entertaining!"
