flat paint jobs come by many names. Its just what happens when either a.) a hi gloss finish is sandblasted to displace shine, or b.) a shine-less, flat paint is used.
lustre of paint fades with oil and pressure though, everywhere i touch on the guitar (places i touch often, the bakc of the neck, between the pickups, etc) are getting glossy as my fingers smooth out the paint fragments that give it that anti-shine finish.

well teeeechnically speaking flat paint is paint without lustre and a satin finish is a lightly sandblasted gloss finish, but they end up looking about the same.
so yeah, its called both fairly often.
