It is said that there is a side story to King Arthur´s legend. During the circumstances with Arthur, Lancelot and Gwynnefer Merlin wasn´t present. He was gone and no one knew where he had headed to.
In this side story it is said that he had a fight with the Fairy sorceress Nimue (in other versions it was Arthur´s half-sister Morgan le Fay) and she beated him in a duel of magic.
But in the version with Nimue (she represented the untamed energy of the magic of nature while Merlin represented the rational use of power) she captured him and helt him tied up in a stone circle to seal his magic power. During this period of time, both fell in love with each other and Nimue released Merlin at the end.
Both wittnessed Arthur´s death after the fight of Camlan and travelled to Avalon to guard the sleeping King of Camelot until the time Britannia will need his help again.
On this pic I drew the scene where Nimue give Merlin to eat. Even if he is her captive she doesn´t want to mistreat him at all.
I don´t know but this pic made me smile after I had finished it

As I said. The slots keep closed until the Castle of Laughter comic is finished. And from the present rate of the story, we will need about 30 pages in full to get story told. But the content can increase since some people have asked for cameos of their fursonas...
So I beg for some more patience^^

It is an uncommon story after all because it is not in the version of Sir Thomas Mallory. In fact there are 3 medival versions of the Arthur legend.
This story is only a fragment, but some people allways wanted to know why Merlin was not here at the final fight and this was one explaination

that depends on the teacher, I suppose. My first history teacher only let us write down the dates, annuals and stuff into a map or gave ref sheets to us we should use for learning. But as I attendet the Gymnasium I had a teacher who told the stories behind too and he was skilled enough to entertain the class by doing so. The attention level was high^^ especially mine
She wans't very good explaning. We had english class with the same teacher for 6 years. Every years she only teach us "verb to be", simple present and simple past. Some years, maybe even perfect past. And the explanation was really bad. I never understood.
I just learned cuz I got some english grammar books at home and pratice playing video games.

Ah I have heared about the second story. The first one with the two Dragons is new to me but I think a similar story was told about the young Merlin who foretold King Fortigarn that under his castle were two dragons, a white one and a red one, fighting against each other and thus was the reason the castle crumbled apart three times.
Do you know some more details about the two dragons?

but having a dragon on the official banner is really cool.
there is only one city in Austria that has a Dragon as its trade mark
Klagenfurt
here is a pic of the statue that reminds the people of the founding legend of Klagenfurt

In German his race would be called Berner Sennen-Hund. I don´t know the english name but here is a link.

This race comes originally from Switzerland, but the calm and somehow allways worried and sad facial expression of these dogs gave me the impression that they carry sad secrets with them and thus was the idea behind Merling changing into such a dog.
As for Nimue, she is just a red fox to express the sly part of her soul.^^
I hope this was not too confusing^^

Oh it wasn't to confusing i just thought you were just drawing more of the anthro side of the story. I was thinking Merlin looked like a st. bernard mixed in with a leonberger cuz i know those two dogs are really big to begin with. Those ropes sure look pretty tight on Merlin i can understand how he must feel right about now great job with the drawing, hope u had a good Easter
In the versions I know, most depict Nimue's imprisonment of Merlin early in the mythos. Either because he's attracted to her or because he recognizes her talent, Merlin teaches her everything he can about magic. But for some reason (usually because she doesn't like his advances and wants him to leave her alone), she magically imprisons him in either a cave or a tree, and that's usually the last we see of Merlin except maybe as a vision. As a result, Nimue takes over Merlin's job as court magician, even discovering a plot to poison the queen. Other versions claim her reason for imprisoning him is because he was sick and it was the only way to keep him alive.
Anyway, any chance you could draw these two so Nimue doesn't have her back to us? Regardless, great art dude.
