Had a scrap of paper and some oils laying around, decided to make myself a chibi!

Takes forever to dry and they're a bitch to transport (I still have some in the old dorm that are too wet to move), but the colors make it all worthwhile.
As a watercolorist, I like the color but the lack of "being sloppy" and the care you have to take as you paint really drags me down.
(If you ever get into them, smallest palette I can recommend for a full color spectrum is cadmium yellow, cadmium lemon, cadmium red, cobalt green light, cobalt turqoise, ultramarine blue, magenta, titanium white, and a burnt sienna to mix with your ultramarine will be cheaper and more chromatic than black (earth colors are cheap, because the pigments are cheap, round out your palette with them). Remember, values are STRONG with oils, so always go easy on the darker color as you mix! An equal amount mix will be biased towards the darker color.)

I want to garden, but ironically the same natural beauty that surrounds my home (a lodgepole pine forest) makes it difficult to find enough sunlight exposure to grow anything substantial. That and the mountainous elevation makes it a challenge to approach. Perhaps we're both a little wistful about the idea. :)
Ah, for a nice sun garden in Sedona (maybe in another life, when I'm not part Irish)...
But the other half is Dutch, and my grandfather used to run a garden supplies company - so a thick bed of lilies and gillys and tulips and such would be this gorgeous Emil Nolde burst of color. So I know about fertilizer and planting seasons from them, but thanks to the whole trans thing wouldn't feel safe in any area with a low enough population density to permit gardening. I need a more attainable fantasy. Like, say, passing voice.
(I have feminine intonation and mouth shapes down well, but I'm a basso profundo with a chest voice (my dad was deaf, taught us to do that so he could hear us) who can hit this passage with little effort. Keeping my voice even in an alto range is painful. I'll never pass as long as that's the case, and if you have any advice, that'd be great. I'm like the guy in "A Mighty Wind." "Ea... A... Oe.")

I know how you feel, living in a place sometimes described as a purple (red+blue) state. Still, don't give up on anything, I think having a hobby garden is attainable. My challenge there is sunlight, short growing seasons, and hungry wild critters. :) Alas, I have even less practical advice (though am impressed by that vocal registered in the opera link)- at 6'2", I maybe would share in that difficulty.
