They are a luxury, as the process of their creation is very complicated and thus expensive. They're created to look pretty and are most often bought on a request by wealthy people and used as mascots, servants, sex slaves, child substitute(for those who can't have children on their own) etc. There are cases where chimeras are given a free will to live on their own and make their own families.

There are two types of chimeras - Angelic and Devilish. It is only an aesthetic choice as they differ only by appearance.
