First full illustration with my new and still nameless OC. He is Yesenia’s first lover in the story. She falls hard for him. He treats her like his one an only but he is —as she’ll see for herself— cruel and ambitious in his endeavors.

Before learning of his true personality, he nurtured her, helped her understand her abilities as a Nyn. Listened to her and was her friend. She came to trust him and admire him just as much as he grew feelings for her.

So within this picture I try to capture that. Her admiration, him nurturing and caring for her. Him admiring her beauty and she his impressiveness. The flower is actually a fictional flower called a yesenia. How she got her name. It’s a flower that lives off the living a sort of metaphor for their own relationship. The roots of the flower are thorned to represent how things will turn painful for her. Roots bury deep so it takes awhile for the truth to come to light for Yesenia. The flower is also plucked to represent her virginity. naivety, and the trust she put in his hands.

Lol that’s the end of my artsy fartsy spewing. Symbolism all up in this piece but it was really fun to draw an image that meant something. It’s really been awhile since I’ve done a symbolic piece.
