I think maybe what he was talking about is how fat the cheeks are made.
People will call any attempt to draw a cartoon realistically "scary". I personally wouldn't care much more than to start practicing at it.

Not to mention a large percentage of furries have this horrible phobia of anything human or looking human, or without some sort of "anime" style. That's what I don't understand.
