Another piece for Palladium Book's Rifter #69. First pic was mutant spiders, this one is a mutant scorpion!

So I could just draw a big scorpion, with something nearby (cacti, perhaps?) for scale, to say, "mutant", but plenty of games do that. What you also need is to imply something beyond simplistic animal intelligence. Add a map & wrist compass, some camping supplies, and a sombrero for shade! (Hey, scorpions don't like it bright!) And you have a fairly quirky non-humanoid character to play, instead of some random monster.

And that's the beauty of Palladium Books games, you can pretty much roleplay as anything. After the Bomb's Bio-E system allows for some of the most detailed, finely tuned & handcrafted animal-anthropomorph rpg characters out there.
