Well after seeing a video on youtube showing a heron and their capability of swallowing capabilities, particularly of one swallowing whole a small rodent equaling in quite the nice struggling neck bulge.
I just couldn't help but draw a scene similar! Whatever the heron has eaten clearly isn't too happy about becoming lunch!
Overall I'm quite happy, tried my best with all the markings and such

Wow, as a thumbnail in my messages I had no idea who drew this, but then I saw your name and I was just super surprised. This is really well done :D Look how good you did the bird, you made it look way too good. I love the background too, very swampy. I told you that you were improving so quickly, like really just look at this picture, it's amazing! You should see some of the crazy stuff pelicans do like this too xD
Why thank you! Just goes to show that using a reference really does pay off glad it surprised you from the thumbnail, I thought I'd go for a swampy type of theme, and besides most rivers and streams aren't usually straight up blue, they're quite a murky brown

It's scary and amazing how brutally effective herons are as predators as clearly shown by both video links here swallowing live critters that clearly aren't fish, which is what they are made to swallow. Always love seeing real life vore videos for as rare as they are its always really neat assuming its not really gross or anything of course. ^^ Thanks for sharing!
Oh yes! When I first saw it I was quite impressed and slightly scared about how easy it is for them to swallow small rodents whole with ease.
